Winding Hills Golf Club
About
Winding Hills Golf Club in Montgomery is a challenging course that will give you some practice with your irons and test your short game skills. This formidable short course is much tougher than it appears. The designer, Steve Esposito, modeled the layout after Jeff Cornish's Blue Rock Course in Cape Cod. The narrow, tree-lined fairways require accuracy. Strategically placed sand traps frame the small greens and several water hazards come into play as well. The holes vary in length and each is unique from one another. You may be surprised to find that you have to use all the clubs in your bag. The ninth hole is arguably Winding Hills Golf Club's toughest. This par 3 requires a long and demanding carry to a green that's sloped back to front.

Perfect your short game
First of all I love this course. It has really helped bring my game to the next level because of my short game progress. If you need help with yours, this is the place for you. Very well kept and extremely nice views. Just because this course is short and mostly par 3s (only 3 par 4s), doesn't mean that this course is super easy by any means. It has holes that would challenge almost all non pro golfers just because of the tough greens alone, let alone extremely tough pin placement on a few holes that leaves extremely low room for error. I usually play best ball with two balls (if nobody is behind me and my partner of course) and i still have to make some tough putts to save par and bogeys just to put it in perspective a little bit on how challenging some holes can be. I really enjoy this course and for 20 dollars with a cart, theres really no beating the value. Its a solid hour from my house and i still manage to get to the course atleast once or twice a month. The only complaints I would honestly have are that the bar/restaurant isn't always open for some reason and that the ranger is extremely rude and condesending. The ranger doesn't seem to ask questions, he just tells you like hes on some type of power trip. Everyone else inside the pro shop or the bar/restaurant has always been super nice and professional so it's unfortunate that the ranger alone brings down my thoughts on the whole "staff friendliness." They 100% would've got a 5 outta 5 from me if not for the grumpy old ranger. All in all though, I would definitely recommend to any level golfer I come across. The Winding Hills course has definitely became one of my favorites since finding it last season. Hope this helps and hope you all try it out and love it like I do. You won't regret it.
a true short game test
Winding Hills is a very well maintained course that will challenge every high-lofted club in your bag. You'll need every wedge and your nine, eight and seven will get a workout.. you won't need much else. The greens roll true and a few of them can give you fits with undulations you've not seen on an executive course.
That said, the price is not right for what you get. What used to cost a reasonable $25 to play 18 with a cart during the week is now $37. A weekend round will set you back over $40 - which (in my frugal opinion) is far better spent on golf and a cold beer at a traditional course in the area.
Friday golf
Overall conditions were good, course still holding water from recent rains or irrigation.
Well Maintained
Winding Hills is a upscaled par 3 course. It is always well maintained. A few of greens can to be tricky. We always have a good time when we go to Winding Hills.
Friday morning round of golf
Course in great condition and played with very little standing water after an all day rain on Thursday.
Restaurant wasn’t open, had planned to have lunch after playing. Wasn’t an option today.
Really pretty short course
Very well maintained , friendly course.Really worth the money.
Good iron and wedge practice.
Easy to find good tee times and never crowded.
I highly recommend it to everyone.
Fun Par 3
I had a great time playing at this par 3. Gave me a chance to test out my irons/wedges off the tee box. Very short holes but can wizz through them then.
Wow
Love this course. I started playing golf last year and since I’ve started I’ve been to over 15 golf courses in 3 different states and played over 60 rounds of golf. This course exceeds many of the bigger courses in every aspect. Andy in the pro shop is very accommodating and pleasant. The carts are always clean and the course conditions are excellent. The greens are tougher than most but by playing them you’ll eventually see how much better you get at putting. I’d recommend this course to the beginner golfer but also the more experienced golfer who needs practice with his/her short game.
Crisp, Fun Play Day
Had a good 18 hole run - great pace. Some soft spots due to current weather but overall good , clean grounds.
Great Course
This course was in great shape. It was challenging and a great value. Would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing par 3 course
Great place!
Well maintained, very friendly staff, challenging greens, courteous players. Wonderful place to play.
Great Executive Course
This is a great executive course that offers a few challenging par 3 holes. It’s a great place to go play a quick 18. Course is generally well maintained, but can be pretty wet in the early spring and late fall.
Beautiful course
this is a beautiful, very well maintained course. It is an irons course for sure. Fast well manicured greens with elevations and undulations. A great value.
Wet conditions
Pace was slowed down due to cartpath only restrictions. Course was very wet causing balls to plug. Better rounds are played during dry conditions
