Winding Hills Golf Club
About
Winding Hills Golf Club in Montgomery is a challenging course that will give you some practice with your irons and test your short game skills. This formidable short course is much tougher than it appears. The designer, Steve Esposito, modeled the layout after Jeff Cornish's Blue Rock Course in Cape Cod. The narrow, tree-lined fairways require accuracy. Strategically placed sand traps frame the small greens and several water hazards come into play as well. The holes vary in length and each is unique from one another. You may be surprised to find that you have to use all the clubs in your bag. The ninth hole is arguably Winding Hills Golf Club's toughest. This par 3 requires a long and demanding carry to a green that's sloped back to front.

Basically a Par 3 course with poorly maintained Greens
Aside from 3 Par 4 holes which are a little over 200yds this is basically a Par 3 course with many holes under 100yds. Although the greens keepers do a great job of providing a Zen Garden-like feel to the course which is very peaceful and easy on the eyes; they struggle with how to maintain greens and keep tee boxes flat. Got a deal on Golf now for $20 for 18 which is about where I'd place the value for this course. I would say it's a great place to work on your short game but the balls did not roll true at all on the greens. However you'll get a ton of chipping and pitching work. Cheers
nicely laid out course
Short course mostly par 3s but beautiful with challenging shots and difficult putting greens.
Nice course
The course is very nice. It is a great course to improve your iron play. I have difficulty with my short game so it was perfect for me. The greens are very rolly which makes the putting a challenge. Unfortunately it had rained the night before so it was a little wet but overall the course looked beautiful. I look forward to going back.
AMAZING HIDDEN GEM
This course is amazing everytime i play it, great staff, great course, well maintained great pace of play.
Perfect your short game
First of all I love this course. It has really helped bring my game to the next level because of my short game progress. If you need help with yours, this is the place for you. Very well kept and extremely nice views. Just because this course is short and mostly par 3s (only 3 par 4s), doesn't mean that this course is super easy by any means. It has holes that would challenge almost all non pro golfers just because of the tough greens alone, let alone extremely tough pin placement on a few holes that leaves extremely low room for error. I usually play best ball with two balls (if nobody is behind me and my partner of course) and i still have to make some tough putts to save par and bogeys just to put it in perspective a little bit on how challenging some holes can be. I really enjoy this course and for 20 dollars with a cart, theres really no beating the value. Its a solid hour from my house and i still manage to get to the course atleast once or twice a month. The only complaints I would honestly have are that the bar/restaurant isn't always open for some reason and that the ranger is extremely rude and condesending. The ranger doesn't seem to ask questions, he just tells you like hes on some type of power trip. Everyone else inside the pro shop or the bar/restaurant has always been super nice and professional so it's unfortunate that the ranger alone brings down my thoughts on the whole "staff friendliness." They 100% would've got a 5 outta 5 from me if not for the grumpy old ranger. All in all though, I would definitely recommend to any level golfer I come across. The Winding Hills course has definitely became one of my favorites since finding it last season. Hope this helps and hope you all try it out and love it like I do. You won't regret it.
Short course but geeat practice for irons no need for driver here. Excellent greens very fast and clean
great 18
the course is very well maintained and the holes are a great challenge for a beginner playing his first round, I was able to get a chip in birdie on 18 which really made the game fun, Hole 14 has a breath taking view that made me not want to play through. will definetly be playing this course again.
Executive Course
I would premise this by saying that it is an executive course. The condition of the tees, fairways, greens and rough were very good. I would have liked the tees to be a bit flatter.
I think I'd hate to try these greens in July/August if they were dry/hard. Some of the undulations in the greens combined with a faster pace could make for an almost miniature golf-like experience. This isn't as fast as say Cog Hill or Medinah, but they are pretty quick. I gave this a moderate difficulty rating because of the greens, the rest of the course is pretty straightforward. You will hit a bunch of wedges.
We probably will go back sometime since we live within 20 miles or so.
Great beginner&using your irons course
Pretty course and has some fun holes. I am a intermediate golfer but my girlfriend is a beginner and is perfect for her. Very nice staff just a very nice experience
Top Notch
I love this course... It seems tailor made for my ability. The putting greens however could be better, as they airate often. Bottom line is that this place is my home base.
Well Maintained
This is one of best maintained PAR 3 courses that I have been on. The greens are tricky. If you miss the hole, your ball will certainly travel a distance. Overall a great place to play.
Relaxing course
This is a great course to begin on . The grounds are well kept I have enjoyed every round I have played here .
Short, Fun Course
No need to bring out the Driver on this course, it's very short with only a few Par 4's and the rest 3's. Great course for working on your iron shots! I've improved tremendously within 150yrds because of this course. Greens are in great shape but are challenging. Definitely will continue to play here.
Great Short Game Course
Excellent course to work on your short game. Many holes under 100 yards. Layout is beautiful, best value in the area by far!
Ahhh Winding Hills
Beautiful landscaping, very tough executive par 3 course.
Beautiful course with a variety of challenges
As usual this course was beautiful. The grass has grown very thick which made it tough to find errant golf balls. Greens are huge and difficult. I can't wait to play there again !
Course for your short game
This course will challenge your short game and putting skills
