Great track, not worth the money.
Awesome course, a lot of fun to play, not overly challenging. Course is not even close to what I would say is worth $250. Especially when the practice putting green is about a 20 x 10 ft area, the driving range has mats (no tees), and you’re hitting reduced flight balls because it’s only 200 yards long. Greens were also not even remotely close to the speed you would want/expect for $250. That being said, if this course was 125/150? I’d play it very frequently because it’s a great layout with every type of hole/shot option you could expect.
Rude Staff / Poor Service for the money
Staff is rude and not very helpful. For a $160-200/pp a round they could at least clean your clubs after or operate a cart beverage service. Also, the main manager is particularly rude. They don’t serve any beers but if you try to bring your own they threaten you and basically make you think you’ve committed a capital crime for even attempting to BYOB. Lastly, they went cart path only when there was no rain or wetness and only about four foursomes on the course. Overall they should strategize how to make it a better experience because it’s too expensive to be subpar service. Course itself is beautiful though.
Great course - beautifully maintained... and tough!
It was my first time playing and it was a beautiful sunny day on a crisp fall day.
I found the course to be challenging - especially as we were playing from the "blues" - with a lot of blind shots to what were pretty tight greens. It certainly made you have to think about your second shots..
Pete Dye's greens are very deceptive - he can really fool you with his breaks. Brilliant. I will definitely play again!
A Westchester gem!
My suggestion is to approach your first round here as a golf tourist. Chances are this will be one of the most expensive and most difficult public golf course you’ve played. Soak it all in and enjoy the natural beauty of the course and the diabolical design genius of Pete Dye. A tremendous golf experience. Enjoy!
Great course
Course is in great condition, pace of play was great never had to wait to hit a shot or tee off.
Best public access course in Connecticut
Real Pete Dye golf experience. Course in excellent shape especially given November timing. very tough but fair. very friendly staff at checkin, good practice putting and excellent chip/sand practice area. Course play long relative to distance. Very soft fairways and greens - no roll even with no rain for last week.
Wonderful Course
After reading the existing reviews online, I approached this round with some trepidation but had a very good experience.
Course is excellent with good opportunities but plenty of trouble.
Our threesome of 15-16 handicaps played from the Sand tees which is recommended for Handicaps 21-28 and it was more than enough course. We played in very damp conditions.
Staff was helpful. We did not get the treatment described by others.
First Time Playing Here
This was my first time playing this course, I had heard some good things about it from friends. Overall, it’s a nice course, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth the price. The course itself was in good shape, but it was very soggy (even though we haven’t had any rain in 5 days, and it’s been a dry few months overall). It was cart path only - but it seems that has been a summer/fall rule, from what I have read in other reviews. The greens were extremely receptive to approach shots, but were almost too soft, as the ball never seemed to release. Lots of tucked pins, which made it difficult to score, but the greens rolled true. The only reason why I don’t rate it higher (other than the price) is that there are a number of holes were it feels like you are playing target golf. There is nothing wrong with that, but it almost felt like they tried to squeeze 18 holes into an acreage that could only support 14 holes. There are a few tee shots where you really have to hit it and hope, because between the small landing area and the sometimes blind tee shot, it’s almost more luck than skill to keep the ball in play. But some of the views are spectacular, and the changing of the leaves made it even better. All in all, I would recommend it to a friend, and would go back and play again.
Always good
Always a test and above average conditions. Only real complaint is cart path only during the week. Drainage is a little bit of an issue, but again pretty good shape. Make sure you play the right tees as the course plays tougher than the yardage implies.
Pricey for sure, but worth it here and there.
Overpriced and poorly maintained
For the price they charge the course should be in much better condition. Several other munis in the area have far better green and fairway conditions. Staff borders on outright hostility and is generally unhelpful. Pete Dye would be ashamed of how the course is run.
Worst Customer Experience Ever
These people were rude and quite frankly seemed prejudice. I would never go back to this place again.
