Only if
There are a couple of positives.
First, the staff is great.
Ended up running a little late for a deal time, but they got me out no problem..
The other redeeming quality is the greens. Little furry, but once they cut, they will be quite good and true.
As for the ugly.
- fairways are virtually non existent throughout the course.
Could be because I played after a rainy night, but it’s mostly lumps and bumps all over as you can all see.
- the layout of the course is a bit strange. So many areas play extremely tight and other wider fairways all have blinds or crazy elevated greens.
- tee boxes in most holes don’t have a flat hitting area. Some were even straight up dirt. Yes, dirt.
Again, greens were amazing and the staff was wonderful.
But doubt I’m ever going back.
We had a great time on the field. A staff member told us to bring back the cart by 4 PM, so I brought it back by 3:55PM. Even though we were on time and there were multiple teams behind us, the staff members locked the bathrooms telling us that we were the last team that came in. We saw other teams coming out after us in the parking lot as we were getting ready for our hour drive back. A great start to my wife's first time on the field ended up an unpleasant experience for her and her friend. I am embarrassed to have brought them here for their first time golfing and have never had such mean staff encounters in my 30+ years of golfing.

Gets the job done when all other courses are full
Staff was not accommodating especially when no ones there. Charged $20 pp for 2 singles to share the same cart.

Poor conditions
90 percent of fairways covered in leaves. Unfairly narrow fairway causing balls hit in middle of fairway to run into leaves in rough.
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We’re very disappointed to learn that we did not live up to your expectations. We believe our greens remain on par with the best in the area and as usual, in top shape. Conditions are improving every day and is in great shape for Fall Golf! We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please feel free to call us at 914-342-3273... we'd be glad to discuss your experience and we hope you can give us another try.
Say no
Worst course In Westchester!!! No upkeep at all. Tee boxes horrible. Greens horrible and the fairways the worst. Complained about all the leaves all over the chewed up greens and the staff recommended next time I bring small battery powered leaf blower. Went as a foursome and lost our other two players after 6 holes because of the littered fairways and damage to our clubs from dirt and rocks.

lefty review
with all the leaves falling I found a lot of holes umplayable..I was surprised on how few workers were on the course blowing leaves off fairways and greens..
Tees are in bad shape due to extremely dry conditions this past summer..Most tees are very sandy and have very little grass...

Disappointed with Fairway Condtion
Lots of dirt or mud area on Fairway.
I’ve been here last year and it got worse.
We are disheartened to read this feedback, as it not typical for Somer's. We apologize for any dissatisfaction you may have faced during your recent game due to the quality of the fairway. We will use this as means of improvement and hope to welcome you back for a 5-star worthy experience.
Hate to do this
Hate to do this but stay away from this place. The layout is awful and the conditions are worse. The staff is super friendly but my goodness I wouldn’t play here for free. If the layout is going to be so wacky, they need to make sure the cart gps is working (they don’t).
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We’re very disappointed to learn that we did not live up to your expectations. The course conditions are a direct impact of the drought conditions we’ve experienced throughout the summer. It is not due to the lack of attention of the maintenance staff. We're still waiting on that much needed rain. At Somers National, we heavily rely on mother nature to generate enough natural water to feed the ponds situated throughout the course.
During your recent round, you’ve probably noticed the extremely low water levels of the ponds. We are a course that relies on adequate rainfall and we are more vulnerable to damage during a drought. We’ve encountered a spell of dry weather that we haven’t seen in many many years. In cases like this, there isn’t much our superintendent and operations team can do other than try to keep primary playing areas, like the greens, healthy and wait for rain. When grasses are stressed by lack of water, they go into drought-induced dormancy where growth slows and the grass loses color. In most cases, the grass is not dead and will regain its color once rain returns.
We try to make every guest aware of the situation and conditions prior to their rounds. We've noted the conditions prominently on our website as well as the booking confirmation notes.
Again, we are sorry we did not provide a positive experience. We are looking forward to better weather conditions in a few weeks. We hope you will give us another opportunity. At any time, please feel free to contact us at info@somersnational.com or 914-342-3273
Looking greener
With the drought over the course us recovering nicely. Ultimate target golf, with some interesting hole layouts- but tight.
Thank you for your honest review. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience with us, and we hope to welcome you back again!
Terrible
Terrible conditions weird layout hitting off dirt more than grass I was in a foursome with my friends and after the 12th hole, we all drove back to the clubhouse booked another tee time and played somewhere else the same day
Good course, terrible shape
I’ve played the course before and enjoy it, however, it is in such bad condition, I assume because of the drought, that I would not recommend playing this course this year.

Great People Course is a Desert
Staff was kind and gave numerous warnings of conditions due to drought that we're going through. However, with that being said nothing could have set us up for what we were in for. The greens were well maintained and more than suitable but the fairways made the Atacama look like an oasis. I understand that we can't control the weather and assume that they are executing some type of plan to make the necessary fixes going forward. The consistent sentiment within out group was "your better off just paving the whole fairways".
