I know why others say they wont come back
After the first time here, i understand why not many people come back or recommend this course to me.
No starter, no hole sign, no tee marker, no marshall...but a lot of bird poop and sometimes someone may jump in front of you.
I give some positive star to the staff. They are helpful. I hope they will renovate soon because the layout is good.
All good for winter golf. 5 stars for course conditions. Great layout.
Leaves Everywhere
You usually know what you're getting when you play here, but yesterday was an extra disaster. Leaves everywhere. Fairways, greens, rough, EVERYWHERE. They don't give a crap about the course, much like most Staten Island courses. An abomination for the price, as usual.
None
Had an 815 tee time. Due to frost delay was told a little backed up. We were supposed to be 6th group to tee off. Made or way to first tee and watched a few groups tee off. Suddenly tee is flooded with carts and were told 8 groups in a men's league are now ahead of us. Horrible communication and lack of awareness. Waited it out a d were stuck behind the slowest group in club and forced to play close to a 5 hr round. This stuff should not happen. Overall latourette is a great course but bad taste after this round
Great fall day on the course.
Starter was a good guy kept the groups organized on the first tee. Could have used a beer and snack cart making rounds. Course was in great shape, with a challenging slope and greens. Enjoyed a day in Staten Island woods with fall foliage, deer, and Canadian Geese rockin out to hair bands with some
Nooners.
Full house but a good pace of play. at just less than 4 hours. Greens are good and cause is in good shape
Any negative would be tee conditions.
ALL Good
Considering the time of year the course was in great shape. YES, some tee boxes were "sandy" but over all no issues. The starter was VERY friendly. Pace of play was good, Overall very nice day!!
Needs a Lot of TLC and Better Rangers to Speed Up Play
I have been a Staten Islander all my life and have played La Tourette probably 50 or more times in the past 45 plus years. I haven’t seen this course so ill maintained since the COVID-19 epidemic first prevented NYC’s Parks Department from maintaining this course. La Tourette GC used to be one of THE finest, most well maintained “public” golf course in all 5 boroughs of NYC. To add insult to injury, the exorbitant greens fees being charged, some of the seemingly uncaring staff, as well as the lack of rangers to speed up the pace of play is disheartening to say the least. Someone must get on the ball - no pun intended - and get our city to do something significant to restore this once beautiful golf course.
Good tound
My buddy and I were 1st group on the course. Total time was 3:45, not bad. Greens have a lot of ball marks- the previous players are terrible about doing the right thing. A few of the green didnt have true roll due to previous aeration. The rough is too high on many holes.
Longest play ever
Teed off 25 minutes late, and took over three hours to PLAY 9 HOLES. Avoid this place on the weekends at all cost. Staff does nothing to move players along.
Needs work
First time I’ve played here this year. I played here last year right after golf courses reopened from the pandemic. It wasn’t in great shape then. It hasn’t improved a whole lot since. Though things have improved, this course needs a lot of work. There are better options in Jersey or Brooklyn.
Horrible tee boxes
For the amount of money spent to play here, this course should be in better conditions. Tee boxes are horrible! Mainly sand. Cart paths are in desperate need of repair.
Needs attention
Greens recently aerated but are still very firm as it appears they neither water nor cut them. In general , tee boxes are poor, fairways ok, not one. Cart path on the course is in good shape. Course is a good layout, just looks tired, need some tlc.
I reserved to play with cart included. When I arrived I was told that I would have to walk and 3 holes were unplayable. I totally understand with the storm that we had a couple of days before, but there was no notice letting me know. I paid 70.00 dollars for the round and GolfNow would not allow me to receive a refund.
