Recovering from Hurricane /Greens are Excellent
This place gets high marks for making lemonade out of lemons after the hurricane. Greens are awesome! Fairways not so much. Grass on fairways hasn’t recovered all the way so sometimes you just have to lateral out of dirt into grass. Drew and crew are great! Drew sends you a text the day before you play explaining you need to bring your own refreshments and beverages………yay, how many golf clubs tell you that! It’s out of necessity though, no beverage cart, no water on course and only restrooms are in club house. We played here a couple times then went to the other golf course on the island and while the other fairways were in better condition they have their own lingering hurricane issues and they charge 40% more. All in all I highly recommend Sanibel Island Golf right now. I know they will eventually get back to normal but I really like the way it works now.
Great Layout Getting Better
This course is thankfully coming back nicely after the hurricane. Greens are outstanding. The pro is working hard to get everything in tip top shape.
Great layout and plenty of wildlife
Course is still recovering from Ian but very playable. Price is a value for this time of year compared to the fees charged off island. Greens are in excellent condition. Portions of some fairways are bare but not a big deal with lift and place to grass. Pace of play was fast. Wildlife is abundant. Staff offers great service. Will play it again.
Great greens
This course fairways are recovering from hurricane but greens are in great shape. We would golf here again.
Great course
Great course! Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Greens were in great shape and bare spots in fairway didn’t bother us. Highly recommend. .
Disappointing
Sanibel is still suffering from last year’s hurricane Ian. The course is rough… lacking grass on the fairways. There are no bathrooms anywhere on the course and the one bathroom in the pro shop has no doors. There is no food or water available.
The bridge to the island is backed up with traffic and construction. It took way too long to get both on and off the island.
I wouldn’t have minded if they had offered a very discounted rate. $80 is too much for such poor conditions.
Greens are perfect, some work need to be done on fairways
The greens are in top shape and well maintained. There is work to be done on the fairways. Very friendly staff.
In process
Nice greens , look forward to playing course when fairways come in
Great greens
This course might have been nice before the hurricane, but is far from recovery. The greens were awesome, but the fairways were in bad shape with little grass and a lot of silt.
I will try the course again in a couple of years.
Best greens in the area
I am in town for a week of golf and played 5 courses from Ft. Myers to Naples. This was my first time playing Sanibel Island Golf Club since the hurricane. The greens were absolutely amazing! There are still some bare spots on different fairways, but no big deal getting relief if my ball landed on one.
This course is a hidden gem not just for its affordable price ($100 in season price) but also for its great layout and extremely friendly staff. I will play this course multiple times on my next trip to the area.
Great Course! Best Greens Around!
This course has the best greens of any course I’ve played in the last 3 years. Some fairway damage from the hurricane but an absolutely beautiful course.
Obviously the course is still suffering from the hurricane! Greens and tee boxes were in good shape. However the fairways were simply awful at this point and it will be a long time til they are back! They were kind enough to advance warn you to bring your own drinks and food as that part was still not operational. They are doing their best in a tough situation.
Just understand the difficulties of a small business trying to recover
As you play your round, keep in mind that the course (fairways) are void of grass in many areas on virtually every fairway. As an avid golfer, understand that a large portion of your green fees are going towards course recovery. This course could be special when the fairways come back (if they can come back). Course management was very honest about the conditions of the course. By the way, the greens were very nice and playable. Bring a couple of cold beers along with some good friends and enjoy the day. This would be a fun course to play a scramble. Let’s support a small business trying to recover from the storm. No 3-putts!
Great layout and fantastic greens
This was my first time playing the course since Hurricane Ian. I hope everyone understands that a lot of work has been put in to get this course back up and running. Drew is great and soon enough it will be back to its full glory. The greens are perfect. Some of the best greens you’ll find in all of south Florida. The clubhouse is coming a long and the restaurant isn’t open yet. The fairways need some work, but very playable. Overall, I love this course. The layout is great and the staff is wonderful.
Sanibel B+
Great time. Greens and tee boxes are in great shape. Fairways will be back to normal in another year. Fun layout for sure.
Under maintenance, we'll kept
Obviously there was a MAJOR hurricane that hit this course recently, but this maintenance team is phenomenal. The greens were in top 5 shape of the best courses I've played, and I've played some big name courses. The staff was terrific and the starter was the best. I will definitely play this course again.
Playing on Sanibel Island at high season was a treat
The staff was friendly and accommodating. A little crowded on the front 9. Wide open on the back.
If you are a high handicap player like me, bring a lot of balls for the front 9 - many opportunities to lose them.
Back 9 is a lot more forgiving.
Greens were incredible.
Fairways not so much. We had an agreement that we could pick a ball off of the mud and place on the nearest patch of grass.
