Classic Westchester Tillinghast
Similar to a number of its peers in the area, Metropolis is a great Tillinghast test of golf that is meticulously maintained. Renovations to a few of the holes in recent years have made the layout better. Conditions are always impeccable. Really need to hit just about every club in the bag to score well. A few less blind tee shots than what you might see at other Tillinghast courses in the area, which I like. I think the weakest part of the course is the opening and closing holes.
The opening hole par 5 has an awkward slope that can leave an annoying approach shot to open your round even with a good tee shot, and the closing two are somewhat plain and unremarkable. The most interesting stretch, for me, is probably 3-6.
In any event, if you get invited to play, dont pass it up. Metropolis is great.
