Beautiful Setting with Mt. Pilot View
Silo Run is a nice drive from Winston-Salem. You past lush farm lands, vineyards into the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pilot Mountain.
The course was in very good condition. It is in rolling hills with some up hill greens and one very memorable down hill placement on the back nine. I was glad to see the down hill was mowed instead of over grown.. Water comes into play with a creek and a lake. There are trees that can get into way on errant shots.
The foreward tees are friendly to women and seniors who do not drive the ball over 150 yards. The Blue tee boxes can challenge the long ball hitters.
The amenities are not like a country club so they can make price to play very attractive. I don't want to spend time at a bar when I go there. I can stop to wine taste on way back home at a nearby Winery.
Silo Run is a hidden jewel. I hope to return with friends time and time again.

off the beaten path
I play mostly flat courses, never saw anything like 11. 12 was cool too . Front desk was nice as pie but as my 1st time there and playing as a 1, I could have used a little more info. front 9 was in great shape. back nine good shape. Don't expect country club upkeep if you go but overall pretty good. The other thing was the GREAT price with a needed cart
This course has a unique layout and a lot of challenges.
The course is in the best shape in many years. Greens are in excellent condition. The Friendly Staff and Grounds Team are doing an excellent job. Best Golf Course in the area for the money.
Course is a good for the money
The greens were recently aerated so the puts were not rolling true. There was 2 foursomes in front of our 2 man group. They were elderly and would not offer to let you play through. Staff was friendly and the price was good for 18.
Great course with friendly staff
Good course. Great greens. Great friendly staff. Although Hole 11 is gimmicky. Hole 15 needs some work about 100 yds in front of the green.
Good Value...course has been worked on and the problem areas under upgrade & repair.
Nice
For the money you can’t go wrong. We played around noon and the pace of play was a bit slow. Evidently they allow Foresomes cause we had a group of five in front of us. Played here before and we noticed the same thing big groups playing together. Outside of that the course was in decent shape greens and tee boxes were in good shape. Layout was just okay. Very hilly course. But was very expected in East Bend. I give the course a 4 out of 5.
course
Greens roll real good, fairways ok, stay out of bunkers because not maintained and has rocks in them. Over all good course fun to play
Fun course but could use better directions
I found this course to be a fun course to play with some good long holes and a nice mix of short holes. Fairly typical of a foothills course, there were several blind shots. With this said, I think it would be much easier to play if the score card would show the hole layout and some idea of distance to landing area. I found the greens to putt very nicely and would generally hold a decent shot hit into them. Overall, I was very pleased with this course and will try it again.
Good value, would play again
Greens 4.5/5 bent grass, bunkers 2.5/5, fairways 3/5, tees 3.5/5, layout 3.5/5, staff 5/5, clubhouse/facility 1.5/5 (no frills, small building) Got round for great deal on Golfnow.com. good value. Would play again.
GREAT GREENS!
Played on a hot Friday afternoon and the course had very few players. WHY? The conditions were very good to excellent on the front 9. The back nine had issues on 11 + 13 but the staff is working diligently to improve those spots. BUT the greens were SUPERB! The greens were smooth and fast with almost no dead spots. Great job guys! If the rain doesn't wash away all the hard work they are doing on their "watch areas" this place will be perfect in about 2-3 weeks. The only disappointment was the condition of the bunkers but that is totally understandable. If we don't play they don't have funds to put into the course. Do yourself a favor and try out this course. You can spend much more and get less at several other courses in the area.
Don’t play in the summer.
I’ve played this course since they built it but have moved and only been there a couple of times in the last few years. Only in the last couple of times have I noticed they don’t put water coolers on the course. This course is wide open without much shade at all. The bad thing is it wasn’t always like this. I think it should be mandatory that golf courses put waters coolers on the course especially considering the fees that most charge these days. If your trying to make money, and that’s the reason you don’t, at least have someone drive around and sell refreshments. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone fell out playing there one day.
Great golf course
We love playing at Silo. Yesterday was our 45th wedding Anniversary and we chose to go play golf at Silo because we love playing there. It was pretty busy and we had to wait on others while others waited on us but we had a really nice time.
Great greens
Greens are in the best condition I've ever seen them.
Silo Run
I realize that they do the best they can with what money they have available.Very good greens
