Great combination of good fairways and receptive greens.
The course has a lot of different hole layouts and provides a fun golfing experience.
enjoyed the round of golf . Greens were in good shape.
enjoyed the round of golf. course was in good shape and was a challenge.
Value, value, value!
Great price and a pleasure to play. Friendly staff. I've played this course 5 times since it opened and this past round was the best shape I've ever seen it in. No two holes are the same. And the rough is tougher than it looks.
Favorite Course in the Area.
For the money, you can't beat Silo Run. I played here often when I played golf for SCC and it has always been my favorite course in the area. Every hole is unique and interesting, the fairways are well maintained, the rough is short, and the greens are fast but receptive. Most of the staff is very friendly and the overall atmosphere at Silo is very warm and inviting. I would prefer to play here rather than anywhere else close(ish) to my house, including Cedarbrook, which has the most stuffy and ignorant country club atmosphere around. The layout is what really keeps me coming back to Silo Run - the course is fairly difficult, but you can't say it's not fair. My one complaint with this course? The bunkers have TONS of rocks in them! I managed not to land in a single bunker this time I played, but when I do, I have to break some rules - seriously, I don't want to damage my clubs! Overall though, this is easily the best course for your money. You'll always have fun playing here, and that's what it's all about anyway.
Fun Course with some excellent holes
I particularly enjoyed some of the elevation changes. Several elevated tees with panoramic downhill shots. Greens were in very good shape, in part because of our mild summer this year.
Very pleasant course with some GREAT Holes!
120 yd par 3 with water on 3 sides. Back 2 back holes...a par 5 with a 100 yd drop elevation to the green; then a short dog leg right par 4 with a 60 yd above elevation green with water on the left. Really cool needing to go three clubs less on the par 5 and 2 clubs up on the par 4.
Great course
Great course, always well maintained, I know them for the fairways and greens
Fairways and Green were good. Pace of play was pretty slow though!
Pace of play was awfully slow! ..... Had a 4-some in front of us that wouldn't let me and my brother-in-law play through. Took their sweet precious time hitting 2 or 3 balls a piece every shot! ..... Other than that, it was great! Greens were in great shape and the fairways were nice as well! Staff was very friendly, and you can't beat the value you for the money! I would definitely recommend this course often!
Not a great course, but good for the value
This was my first time playing at Silo Run. The staff was very friendly to me. The chipping/putting area is very nice. The range was sufficient but they could definitely use some new range balls. For the most part, the course layout wasn't bad. It was in decent shape. I played for a hot deal price which I think turned out to be a good value for this place, but I wouldn't want to pay full price. If the price is right, I'd recommend giving it a try.
A pretty good challenge
Fairly nice maintained course. Two or three holes in the 18 that I'm not too fond of , otherwise a pretty good course
GREAT FARM COURSE
This was a last minute booking on Good Friday. When I arrived at the course they were out of carts and we had to wait. No big deal, by the time our tee time came a cart was delivered. The staff was really working hard and was friendly. Course was in good (not great) shape. The greens were hard as nails and not very receptive. Putting was a challenge since the greens were a little bumpy.
Overall a great value course that I WILL play again.
Pace was very slow due to the overabundance of golfers.
I was nervous since I am a learning player, but I settled in
I needed to be down that way anyway and I had heard a lot about this course, so I tryed it and liked it.
Nice layout. Greens are in bad shape. Bunkers need attention.
Pace of play is ridiculously slow. Poor management. Allowed singles to tee off. Observed fivesomes playing.
Decent course for the money
Had some interesting holes. I really liked the tips for playing posted in the carts. Very helpful for our first time out. Some spots needing attention but for the price it was a good course.
a hidden gem
Fun course to play. Great bang for your buck. Only thing is it would be nice if they just once had food at the grill!
Great Course
Great course, challenging, long course, but fun to play. Hope to get many more rounds in. Loved it.
A course for every ability and age!
Silo Run has long been one of my favorites because of the
setup and layout. The setup allows every level of golfer to choose a set of tees to match his/her abilities and the layout is mostly right in front of you. The few blind shots are easy to plan out and the par 5 11th is one of the easiest par 5s for any level of golfer to reach in 2 shots. The staff is a great bunch of good ol' country folk and there is no being looked down upon no matter how folks you bring or how you are dressed. This truly is the "everyone's course" in the greater Winston-Salem area.
