#3 par 5...hit it as long as you can!! Photo submitted by geocarp74 on 12/03/2013
You get your moneies worth!
This course is certainly not what it used to be...certainly in financial difficulty. But, if you can get past this the venue is still awesome & a great deal. It has just been airated & they are charging $20 until March 8th & $30 after....can't go wrong! I have always loved this course & every time we come down from Canada we play here! Hope someone buys this great course!
Go to Bermuda or close it....
See photo uploaded today....
They go through this every year with the greens, it seems. Instead of making a commitment to re-doing the greens, as so many other courses in the area have done, they still muddle through making a minimum effort and taking peoples money.
As others have said before me, this is one of the best layouts around but all they need to do is the greens and put sand in the bunkers and it would be, again, be a very nice course to play.
The greens as they are now are completely gone and won't be back in any kind of shape for at least 6 weeks or more. They're apparently praying for cooler weather. That's their solution.
The course is a great layout, tee boxes are nice, fairways are OK, the Ruffs are way to thick, and the greens are DEAD DEAD.........
Please Just Close the Course
Wow, this was very disappointing for someone who has played this course since it's opening. This used to be a five star course which has fallen on sad times. The greens are a mix of grab grass, dead bent grass and sand. On some greens there wasn't even a spot to place the pin in decent bent. The course should no longer be open and it takes a lot of nerve to charge folks to play. Don't waste your money on this place.
Stay Away
The greens are unplayable. We decided to stop playing after the 3rd hole and we went to the clubhouse to get a refund because the conditions were so poor, but we had a horrible encounter with a golf registration staff. The staff refused to provide a refund, but did offer a raincheck. Providing a raincheck would be useless because the conditions are going to be bad for a long time. The staff asked, "what did you expect for $35? and the staff's attitude was rather flippant to the situation. I will never return to this golf course. Also, I reached out to my bank start a fraud claim because at no point was it communicated to us that the conditions were this awful. Do not pay to play this course.
No more maintenance? Terrible greens.
So I just played this course and it could be a really good course however they just let this course go... Greens had more dirt spots and weeds then their bent Crenshaw grass. Some greens seemed 75% barren, it was like a put put course on the greens with how spotty they were. They just need to get a good crew to bring this course back up to it's potential. Alot of heavy weeds, fairways weren't mowed and if they were the grass clippings were left all over the fairways, like use a bucket if you mow them. Just was disappointed in the quality but for $25 I guess you get what you pay for.
Gone Downhill
Last time we played here, the course was in great shape. The greens have gone downhill pretty bad. A lot of dead spots. Tall grass in the fairways. Overall we still had a great time playing.
fairways in very good condition but narrow when they didn't have to be. Rough 4 inchs and thick. aprons around greens inconsistent and not in good shape.
Greens diseased with so much brown and bare spots it was really bad. putting true to hole impossible. Sorry but for price and competitor courses available, much better choices available.
A forgotten classic
The course is less forgiving when you land in the rough, they leave it cut high which can bury your ball to where you can't see it and can lose it if you don't keep an eye on it. The areas around and the greens themselves definitely need some work. I played here a few years ago and sadly I don't think much has changed. There is still patchiness in the greens, and while they roll well, it is unsettling aesthetically. Hole placements on this course are not ideal, one hourglass shaped par 3 left you with a space of about 10 feet behind and in front of the pin at the middle location, and the fringe was practically first cut rough. Some memorable holes nonetheless, as well as some that make you think twice, since there are some hidden hazards to fall prey to.
Greet deal
Great layout. Fun course. Lots of elevation and a nice mix of long and short holes. Friendly staff.
Beautiful greens
Course was in good condition and greens were in excellent condition. I’m somewhat confused as to why on this day the course was empty, our 4some played 18 holes and never saw another golfer the entire day. Such a nice layout to not get more play.
Played the 6400 yard tees because only other lower option was 5800 yards, need another option of 6000 yards.
Hope it makes it
I am a local resident in Whispering Pines and have access a all people do who live in this area to several golf courses. I have been playing Little River a few times a year for the past 10 years. I always liked the layout and unique holes on this course. I really like how the course is not lined with houses and is a very peaceful surrounding. We played last week and you could tell that they have been putting minimum maintenance into the course. Greens are pretty good considering they lost them last year. Fairways are decent. All tee boxes were total weeds. Unfortunately from what I understand the property is under control by the bank and holding on to a thread looking for another owner. I would really hate to see another course go down like the Carolina which is another good layout. They should consider doing something like they are doing out at Seven Lakes to pull more people out and charge less with some promotions. They can't expect people to pay $60 to play this course in this condition. We paid $40 through golf now so that was an OK price.
Funday Sunday!!
Great weather for golfing and couldn't have chosen a better golf course to play along with my husband.
The drive was forty minutes but well worth the drive. Thanks to GolfNow, they made it very affordable :)
WE WILL BE BACK!!
They are working on it.
After a couple of years trying to find a new owner, they have begun improvements. Always a good challenge, I hope they keep moving forward bringing it back.
Good course
Good course with a lot of varied shot making opportunities. I look forward to playing here again soon!
Good Friday
Played here plenty of times. Came down with some friends from Greensboro, NC on Good Friday. It was a great day to play. Weather was nice. Even though I didn't play that good, I had fun. By it being early spring the grass wasnt all green yet. But it really didn't matter it beats a day at work. All in all this is a great course to play. I was trying to show my friends some of the courses down in the sandhill area.
Course well laid out
Weather not in our favor 20 mile hour winds and had rained most of the day before.
We started on back 9 I don't know way but has been this way a number of time.
Course was cart path only for good reason by it's always a nice play.
Enjoyable for this time of the year
Fun and very playable layout. Course was ok condition for this time of year. Nice staff. Worth playing for the golf now price. Good course for my wife and I to play around of golf together.
Needs work
Although the staff was very friendly, the course has fallen into disrepair. Pace of play was great.
Hey Raffcat... I see it says... "See uploaded photo today" but I do not see a photo. I am actually not sure if there is a way to upload a photo... I am curious how it looks though.
