great price
Lochmere for $13, one could play 18 with a cart. The greens were good but there was very little grass to hit off from, mostly dirt but for the money it was a fun experience.
Best suited for walkers
Greens are some of the best in the area for a public course. Well maintained even with the heavy volume of tee times. One of the best walking courses in the Triangle area because of the flatter layout.
Extremely Disappointing
LIke most advertisements, this was not at all like the website or descriptions. I am shocked at the positive reviews I saw after playing here. ProShop employee was great. Starter and rangers not so much. I was a single playing with 3 gentemen from Iowa. They were not good golfers and said so themselves. One just picked up the game last fall. We were a bit slow on the front nine and the ranger came out to push us along. He wasn't exactly pleasant. We skipped a hole to move along. On hole 11 or 12 the ranger was back. We were maybe 100 yards into the green and there was nobody on the tee. He tells us we are 3 holdes behind and was flat out disrespectful. I asked him if we are 3 holes behind why is there nobody on the tee behind us? He angrily mumbled something and drove off. At this point it ocurred to me that the 3 gentemen I was playing with were the only black players I had seen all day there. Sadly I cannot help but wonder if this didn't play a role in being hassled by the ranger? Anyway, I assure you I will never play this undervalued (conditions/price) and not friendly for all golf course.
Always a great time!
Really like this course. Greens are amazing. Bunkers well placed and in very good shape. Friendly staff. Nice range. One of my favorite courses.
Nice Course
Sand traps needed groomed. Water needed to be on course in water stations(86 degrees this day) ALL Grass growth will be much better by mid-May.
Had a great time
Weather was fantastic, course starting to green up. Most of the greens were very nice. Challenging but very fair. Thoroughly enjoyed the round.
Decent course
Played here before so I was familiar with the course. Greens were slow but in great shape, bunkers were good to play from and the carts are newer. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Late getting off because of slow play, then we were in #2 fairway when a marshal came by saying we were behind and needed to speed things up. He said this while we were waiting for the green to clear and I also noticed that the par 3 third had folks waiting to tee off. It was a slow day and they should consider spreading out tee times. This was mentioned on other reviews as well. Practice putting and chipping area was in good shape but they need to update and replace the range mats. The range is small and gets a lot of use so its understandable, just need new mats. At the turn grabbed some food and was disappointed for the money. Hot dog's were inedible (burnt buns, very overcooked dogs) but served to us anyway, ended up tossing it in the trash. Didn't notice until we were in #10 fairway. Overall not bad but need to be patient and double food before leaving the clubhouse.
Very average course.
There was nothing particularly wrong with this course but players were stacked up basically on every hole and the layout of the course wasn’t great in my opinion. One of the holes shares a green and I didn’t feel it was particularly fun course to play. Course was in pretty good condition but aesthetically again it was just average. Not ugly but not a particularly pretty course. Staff was really nice.
Slow play
If you like a 5 and half hour round the swamp is for you! the only time I have played here and it wasn't absurdly slow was if it is 40 degrees and the wind is blowing. It is a nice course and the greens are in great shape but the pace of play is beyond awful. we had to bail after 9 holes. It was so bad yesterday that while we were waiting for group ahead to putt the group behind got so tired of waiting that they drove a ball 10 feet from us and once they saw that we were waiting on the group in front who was waiting on the group in front they apologized but it made for an awful experience. They won't, but if the separated the group a little more and didn't stack the course up it would be a lot more fun to play. More expensive too I know but more fun.
Nice round
Played a late afternoon round and got in 16 of 18 holes before darkness set in. Ended up going off right behind a school golf tournament, so play was pretty slow the first nine. Course was in really good condition. Greens were very firm, but putted true. I plan to play here more often.
Too wet
Following a heavy day of rain the day before this course was very very wet
Honestly it should have been closed but clearly the pro needed the green fees
Tee boxes were water logged
Relief needed to be taken from every fairway hit
Sometimes up to 60 yards to find a dry spot often in the first cut of rough
I’m sure I saw the course at its worst but even I wouldn’t play here again
Coursre does not drain well
After a rainy day the next day course was very soaked still. will not play there again if rains the day before
