Quail Creek Golf Course
About
Quail Creek Golf Club is tied for being the most difficult public course in the St. Louis area. Designed by Hale Irwin, the course is laid across rolling hills laced with meandering streams. The layout requires accuracy with narrow fairways and hard-to-read greens. Water hazards come into play frequently as do trees and bunkers. It is a formidable test for any skill level. Most of the holes have a risk-reward element, making the course more accessible by placing an emphasis on strategy over strength. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 ninth. It will favor golfers who successfully cut the corner, making it possible to reach the green in two. This tricky hole demands accurate mid-iron play. Quail Creek Golf Club finishes with an interesting par 4 that has water along the left side of both the fairway and green.

AlwYs a solid course
Good course, has taken on a lot of rain the past week. Greens were in rough shape.
Course has gone downhill
Having played Quail since the year it opened, I was excited to play there again after several years away, but was really disappointed in the conditions. Cart paths are in a bad state of disrepair. The sand traps look like they haven’t been maintained in years, and the tee boxes were a mess. Still a good layout, but it’s obviously been neglected for some time. A shame.
Bad experiences!
Why did they change the cart policy? Can no longer take carts on parking lot and have poor set up for dropping bags off.
Young girl and Brian (who I assume is the manager) are very condescending and rude. I was cursed at by Brian for not following his orders! I wanted to check out but it was interrupting his process.
This used to be my favorite course even with its poor maintenance because of the great layout. Brian and his associates have made it less than that now and I’ll find another place to play. Paradise Valley, ANNBRIAR, Acorns, Far Oaks, Tapawingo, just to name a few in close proximity.
With poor course maintenance and a rude staff, it won’t survive.
Mr golf
Clubhouse attendant was very rude and disrespectful
This course is in sad shape
What a shame as I knew this course has had a heyday however that ship has sailed. The course needs a greenskeeper, the cart path is so bad almost dangerous, and the lake stinks. Kind of a dump and other golfers should know this prior to getting a “hot deal” which it was not!
Hostile, Rude, Management not friendly to paying guests
"My Round of Golf was Great no one around to mess with my Golf game. The Crazy Guy Brian Manager from the Pro shop is another story Rude unprofessional this is the guy from the other reviews from various other links reviews that he has been very Rude and confrontational to paying guests and no apologies for His Hostile behavior. Golfers Beware of the Angry Rude Employee.
Bumpy ride on a promising layout
There is no doubt that this course is well designed and has a great history. Cart paths created a very bumpy ride, fungus on a few greens led to some bumpy putting, fairway grass was weak in spots and lift and place was needed on many drives. With just a little maintenance, this course has lots of potential. Course employees were very courteous and helpful.
It’s $20-Ish dollars...
Is the course in rough shape? Yes..
Is it 20-Ish dollars? Yes..
what you pay for is what you get..
Not What It Use To Be
The course is obviously struggling. The property is owned by the county who isn’t putting money into it so I can see why the owner doesn’t want to invest his own funds in leased property. People need to call the county and ask them to designate some of our tax dollars into this property that offers outdoor activities to its community residents. The cart paths are in really bad shape and the fairways need seeding. The layout of the course is beautiful with elevated tees throughout the course and the greens are usually always in great shape. I e never known them to be fluffy so they afford a nice speed when putting. Quail Creek is actually a players course, in my opinion, with plenty of sand traps and water hazards. There’s no reason at this time of year not to have ball washers on each hole and iced cold water on designated holes. Offer a few golfers free golf, who would be willing to change out the water jugs, and then go play golf (a barter type system). I get the impression the Golfnow clients aren’t appreciate here. My Golfnow Passport starts June 2021 and I’m really excited to be getting lots of Golfnow Hot Deals and want to know my business is appreciated by courses who offer Golfnow Hotdeals, even though they aren’t making any money on Hotdeals. Ive introduced alot of golfers to Quail Creek over the years because I love having a local course. I remember the days when the course was filled with golfers. Our money supports this struggling local golf course so please play here as often as you can ... and bring a friend or two who love the challenge of tight fairways. I would also suggest being generous with your group and allowing them to bump up their ball as the fairways are noticeably thin right now. It makes for better shots and golf wasn’t meant to be played on dirt. Hit em staright!
Terrible experience
To start off, the club house was very unfriendly and not a single staff had a mask on while inside the club house. Some guy named Brain seemed upset we had booked through golfnow.
The course was in terrible shape. Fairways were not in good shape and greens were in worse. The tee boxes were hard as concrete and was mostly dirt.
I would have to say this is one of the worst courses I’ve played in a very long time. Will not be back.
Not good any more
This course has really deteriorated over the years. Once it was a proud course that boasted its design by Hale Erwin. Know the course is in shambles and so is some of the staff. As long as the price stays under 30 bucks it’s sort of worth it, but not really nice play anymore. Needs new management.
This is True what this reviewer has written. I myself have witnessed first hand when I booked with Golf now this Manager Brian is a Very confrontational and Rude Manager to Paying Golf now guests
