Under construction
The entire course was being torn up with heavy machinery! The fairways were dead and the tee boxes were ruined.
Construction on course was rough
Good course. Wish I could have know they had construction going on.
Construction in Progress
Holes 10, 11, & 12 closed due to course maintenance. Can replay choice of three back nine holes to make an 18 hole round. I was aware of this before booking.
Overall, conditions were fine for winter golf. Won't recommend only because of course maintenance. I understand this may be the last year of operation due to planned housing development on site.
course is in construction zone
was not warned of condition until i arrived. 3 holes were closed 1 par 4 played as a par 3 and 1 par 3 shortened to 60 yards. they are putting a road in the middle of the course so you also have to deal with construction equipment and debris. they are closing at the end of the year so i dont see it getting any better. they do have good deals now but i will never play again at any price!!
Larkhaven 1-25-18
Best greens in Charlotte for a public course! I played here several times during the summer and Larkhaven always has great greens. Unfortunately there is some construction going on right now and they have had to alter some holes. Honestly it doesn't affect play too much. #9 tee is like 50 yards from the green (but it was a par 3 anyway), #10 the fairway is a little obstructed (but it doesn't affect play), #12 the tee is moved up, and #18 is now a par 3. All other holes are not effected. Also because of the construction the rate is $20 on the weekdays. I played in under 4 hours. The fairways are dormant and beat down in some places, but I can deal with that for those sweet smooth rolling greens. Staff was very friendly, I will be back.
pick up the pace !
fivesome in front of us---shouldn't happen! plus 5some never made any gesture at all for our 2some, to play thru...........way too long of a round.
worth getting Golf Now deal
played in winter-so I can imagine what it would look like in summer. greens are extremely difficult to read.
nice layout.
It is sad that this course will be closing forever, in August of 2018. I am sure the members, and those that play frequently, will be disappointed.
Perfect Greens !
Wow for early November you would have thought it was the middle of the season for the greens. Great value for $32.00 and will be back.
Great layout
Love the course very challenging and very fair keep your ball in the fairway the rough is tough to hit out of however that's how is supposed to be. You won't find better greens then these gentleman...
First Time at Larkhaven
Course in good shape, far better than most in this range especially the greens. Very hard maybe too hard, could use some water. They did roll fast and true. No easy putts but they are not supposed to be. Greens also consistent, all the same. Only downside was the pace of play. We were 4 and had a group of 3 in front of us just bogged down on every shot. Guys behind us hit down on us on 8 like it was our fault. I talked to them at the turn and they ended up jumping a few holes to get by the problem. I called the clubhouse to get some help moving them along. The gentleman told me he had a tournament going off so he didn't have anyone available but would TRY his best to do something. Nobody ever came out. We just started hollering up at them on 12 to move it along and they finally did. We saw them after because one of them left a wedge behind. The winner of the group was telling us how he had won 121 to 122 to 126. I realize everyone isn't a great golfer and I am not either (Though I am a lot better than that) but when you have open holes in front of you all day it should be pretty clear you need to pick it up. Actually the only Ranger we saw was on 2 and never again all the 5 hour day. We did like the course and will be back but stuff like that will not keep us coming back. I've read other reviews saying the same thing.
Larkhaven
Great course for the money. Greens are in excellent shape. They desperately need to level some of the tee boxes. Specifically #4.
Great course
Nice course to play. The course was in great shape. The staff was very nice. I will definitely be playing it again
Expect to Wait
I showed up well in advance for my 9:32 tee time. A few groups ahead of me brought an extra foursome with them and the staff decided to work them in instead of doing the right thing and bumping them to the end of the line. So instead of teeing off at 9:32 it was more like 9:50.. That's not TERRIBLE, but what time did we finish? 3. 3 PM!! That is definitely the longest 18 I have ever played in my life. Is it really worth it to the course to pack so many people in there? Can you sacrifice the income of 2-3 groups'' worth so you can properly spread out tee times and generate more reasonable round lengths? Spread out your tee times properly, don't take any nonsense from entitled people who think they can squeeze in another foursome, and have rangers regularly ride around encouraging people to keep up pace of play. The only saving grace is the staff there - very friendly folks which is great. But come on - you can do a lot better with course management.
Course is in great shape
Fairways and greens are in great shape.
For the price you can not beat it
