I’ve played this course a few times and it’s always in great condition. When seeing it was £15 for a round here I couldn’t not go, the course for this time of year was in better condition than some are in the middle of summer despite it raining most of the day before.
Tee’s and greens were in good condition so it made the round a lot better.
If you are looking for a course to be in good condition this time of year then this is definitely the place to go.

Beautiful course. Would suit a better golfer than me!

be prepared to lose a few balls on this course. Lots of dog legs and rough. Superb condition apart from the bunkers which were a bit gravelly. Greens immaculate.
The shop at half way was shutting as we got there, and there were at least an hour’s more tee times after us.
I would definitely play there again

Perfect weather
Walked

Course in good condition

Weather was perfect and the course was in good condition

Word of warning, slow play, there was a 4 ball in front that was holding everybody up continually spending over 5 minutes on EVERY hole looking for balls and would not let people through.. as a result this ground everybody down who was waiting and I walked off on the 16th, enough is enough. Torture!

This has happened on 3 occasions now when I have played here but the last time took forever. There’s a reason I will not join a gold club!

Overhaul, a very nice club and I have meet some very nice people playing here and had plenty of time to chat with them!

Nice course layout, but poor greens and unfriendly staff

I played this course as it was nearby to where I was working and the round came in around £30.

The course layout and practice facilities were great, there are some really enjoyable par 4s that are within Birdie range for high handicappers too.

Green quality was a bit of a let down as they were very bobbly and incredibly slow, even for this time of year. I’d say they were more of a £20 round quality.

This I can accept but the thing that really left a bad taste in my mouth was the aggressive nature of one of the course staff.

A man approached me to let me know not to take my buggy on the apron, fair enough, but the man got right up to my face and tried to intimidate me, no pleases or thankyous at all.

If I was perhaps a little more nervous I would have thought he was about to attack me.

Another concern is groups of golfers not shouting fore when Mis-hitting, I was nearly hit by a stray ball a couple of times while out!

An enjoyable course other than that and the green quality, but I imagine the unprofessionalism and borderline violent nature of the staff on the course will prevent me and others from visiting.

I hope the club can review these aspects as it has a lot of potential.

Good value & worth a visit

First visit to Normanton for our group. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Course was very wet in places due to recent weather but played ok. Greens were challenging and we will definitely return in the summer. Good value and worth a visit.

Normanton Golf Club

The course was very wet and muddy and mats had to be used but this did not get in the way of a good round. We had had a lot of rain and snow in the recent weeks. Staff and facilities were good.

Will play again.

The course in general was an very good condition, not to say the greens wouldn’t be if it from a roll(few bobbles on putts) and a few damp muddy patches on some fairways, but in general, the course is a dammed good one!

Great value

One of the cheapest members clubs in Wakefield and is probably in the top 3. Greens always good, fairways were good, tee boxes good, Hillsborough is excellent to give a comparison. Always made welcome by golfers and staff. There is nothing to complain about.

Friendly golf course but slow play

Found everyone at the course to be nice and friendly. Quite a slow pace on the course which has very good greens and was in a good condition throughout. Quite a few tight fairways and plenty of hazards which can be quite frustrating for the average golfer.

Just a great value for money course

Just great value, play it in summer and you can get some of the fast greens around, really like the course and the bunkering is near genius. The club has a well stocked shop, a golf simulator and teaching bay and a team of great teaching professionals headed by one of the best head professionals on the planet, winner of the nicest guy in golf award a staggering ten years in a row!!!! Namely, Gary Pritchard OBE.

Good Golfing

Great course to play. Ground very hard due to recent drought and a lot of sand on the greens after works carried out. The par 5 14th up the hill tests your fitness.
