City of Huntsville needs to take care of this course.
I enjoy my round of golf, but I was disappointed in the fact the City of Huntsville is not putting a little "TLC" in the course. The fairway and greens for the most part were in good shape.
It wouldn't take much to make this a local area top golf course....
Old Munie
Course is in good shape. Greens are absolutely slick. But receptive. Had a couple of greens that were sanded.
Very Nice Course for the Money
The course overall was in good condition. The greens were really nice except a couple of them on the back side. The fairways were dormant which is expected this time of year. The greens are bent grass. I putted awful because I usually play on Bermuda greens, but the greens rolled good. I recommend this course if you are in the area and can find a good deal on Golfnow.
Lost greens
Course is in above average condition for a mini , but they have lost 2 greens on 14 & 16 ,, but still a fun muni , ROLL TIDE !!!
Great layout
Generous fairways and playable rough. Most wayward shots can be found and advanced. Watch out for the 7th hole- it requires an accurate tee shot to the left side of the fairway, but too far left rolls into the woods.
Golf with my dad
Golf course has improved a lot in the last 2 years. Most of the greens had a few bad spots in them. I got a great deal on Golf Now that was well below the rack rate so the course was worth what I paid.
Decent municipal course
Decent layout, with a lot of opening for your beginners. A couple of the staff members need to stay at the house. Old gentlemen that runs the register acts like he hates the world. I hate to see the city of Huntsville employ rude people.
Not bad for a municipal course
The greens were excellent. (very fast) The Tee boxes and fairways were extremely hard. I broke several tees just trying to get them in the ground. I didn't mind the fairways being so hard cuz it added another 75 yds. to my tee-shots!
Oh, and they could not sell beer at the clubhouse "temporarily". Not sure what that was all about.
Staff is very rude and course is in terrible shape.
The staff at this course are very rude,I have played this course several time this year. I will not play it again.
Fun golf course
This golf course is fun to play and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
This course is ok
The fairways had no grass. The greens had Bermuda grass? Some were in bad shape. Although there were not too many players, it was so slow especially with guys who walked.
Huntsville Muni
Cart path only due to recent rain, which is not a problem, but there was a lot of standing water on the paths. Greens were also in bad state on several holes. A lack of player respect for fixing their divots didn't help. Great price on a "hot deal", would have been disappointed if I had paid the regular greens fee.
Becky Pierce Muni OK
The course is moderate water on four holes. Traps are in good shape. Greens are getting spotty. There is no marshall so slow players are out and no one to speed them up.
Muni like experience
Pace was awful due to "experienced" golfers acting like they had all day and we're alone on the course.
Condition not bad for a $16 round - greens a bit slower than needed for October. Beverages were cold enough. Weather was great. Overall, not bad for a muni- nice back 9 layout.
Becky Peirce Municipal
Course has improved lately. Grass is filling in where erosion and dirt were. They still have 2 temporary greens. They have had troubles for a long time keeping 14 and 16 in playing conditions.
The staff in the clubhouse is absolutely UNFRIENDLY!!!
I have been here many times, and his attitude never changes. I believe he is part of reason why course is not getting as much play! Not sure his name but he is older gentleman with gray hair
course needs work
Pace of play was terrible. Fivesome in front of us and teeing off three different boxes.
Two greens unplayable. They were like that last year when I played this course. Other than the two greens, the course is in great shape and love the design.
Counter staff reminded me of the movie "Grumpy Old Men" lol. That's all I'll say about that.
All and all, still enjoyed the day of playing and will probably play the course again. Excellent location.

Course is fairly easy but with one green closed and another in very poor condition, you need a good deal to make it worthwhile!
Course has lost its luster
I can remember when this was a very nice municipal course, but it seems to have gone downhill in recent years.
For the most part, the greens were in decent shape. Although the bent grass greens were very slow (and, perhaps, as a result, very difficult to read), I can understand the need to not cut them too short in the summer heat. However, there were a few things about the greens that pointed to poor maintenance & declining quality. There were a couple of holes that looked like they were cut several weeks ago. There were several greens that had a noticeable out of bermuda grass invading the perimeters - in some cases 3-5ft.
The 14th green was completely gone - just sand. The 16th green was 75% gone., with an area of bermuda grass, about 30 feet in diameter serving as the only recognizable putting surface.
The fairways were very dry. While we have had a bit of a dry spell, we had alot of rain earlier this year. It ses that just a little periodic watering could have kept them from getting to this stage. It looked to me as though they hadnt been watered one time, while there were areas near a couple of greens that were saturated. It all just seemed very uneven and inconsistent.
The good news is that it is still a nice, very playable layout and the conditions are not a total disaster YET. However, the City if Huntsville needs to work the the courses manager (Robertson Golf) and revitalize the course before it deteriotates more. In addition to just getting the course conditions back up to where they used to be, they need to figure out a way to re-design #14 (which used to be one of the best holes on the course as #5 at time), which has been a disaster of a golf hole since being "re-designed" to make room for a water collection area required by a neighboring condo development about 20 years ago. Rant over! :- )
Muni
Typical muni course (fairly flat and open). Tees and fairways good, most of the greens good. They have lost a few of their greens, one or two mostly sand. Pace of play average, they took my cart after nine, to pair up with another single (they apparently had a shortage of carts).
