Marina Vallarta Golf Club
About
Marina Vallarta Golf Club is known for its stunning tropical landscape that is home to an abundance of wildlife. Golfers have the opportunity to play amongst iguanas and alligators while enjoying scenic views of the Bay of Banderas. The course is blessed with a bevy of natural hazards including towering palm trees, lagoons, and waterfalls. Colorful tropical flowers and native vegetation further accent the landscape. In addition to the natural hazards, there are also a few strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The golf course offers a challenging but fair test that is not overly demanding, which is probably for the best since it is easy to get distracted by the beautiful surroundings. Given its versatility and scenery, Marina Vallarta G.C. has become a popular venue for various golfing events, including the Governor's Cup Pro/Am Tournament.

Beware of the Crocs! Photo submitted by dharvey13 on 07/19/2016
Crocs and the Ocean!
My return to Marina Vallarta was a good one. More than 11 years ago, I played the front nine before racing off to catch my flight at the airport that's right next door to the course.
Little did I know how cool the back nine is. These last nine holes are reason alone to play. The course has its own version of Amen Corner once you cross the street to the back portion of the property. Holes 11-13 each deliver something special. No. 11 is called the 'X' hole - a short par 4 named for the two palm tree trunks that criss-cross behind a sloping green guarded by water. Ponds filled with crocodiles pinch either side of the fairway on the par-4 12th. Be careful playing this hole. And finally, the par-3 13th plays directly along a public beach on the Bay of Banderas, providing striking views of Puerto Vallarta in the distance. A few closing holes cut a narrow path through trees on the way back to the clubhouse, where a nice patio and bar beckons for food and drinks.
Some of the traps, cart paths and homes along the course show their age, but overall, Marina Vallarta still rates as a fun place to play. Guests staying nearby at Casa Velas, Velas Vallarta, the Marriott Puerto Vallarta and the Westin Puerto Vallarta can easily walk there. Guests at the adults-only, all-inclusive Casa Velas (like me) can play as often as they wish for the cost of a cart fee ($57 per round). That's a great deal for golf south of the border in high season.
Adequate course.
Front 9 greens in terrible condition.
Back 9 much better.
Marina Vallarta
Course is challenging and laid out well. Tough course once u approach greens. Only negative was the bar was closed both times we played. Would have been nice to have a cocktail afterwords.
Love this place
This is a great golf course! There are crocodiles around the course and some times you have to just drop another ball, but they are friendly and don't bother the golfers. Very fun course to play.
Enjoyable round
Front greens had been punched but that was made clear when booking, back greens were very nice. Overall good condition for off-season, very quick round. Staff were great. But no food available after at 5. Lots of crocs and turtles to see. Overall enjoyable.
Golf Course
Very difficult course to play for an amateur like mm
Nice little resort course, fast rounds and great staff
Played Marina Vallarta 4 times while I stayed with the family at the Marriott across the street (1 min walk). Blue tees play over 6500yds and have some challenging approach shots. Morning rounds were 2 to 2.5hrs and afternoons were about 3.25hrs. Crocodiles and wildlife was a nice extra. The winds pick up in the afternoon making it a very different course than in the mornings. Tons of staff continually working on the course. My only complaint is the sand traps were poor.
Beautiful layout and challenging holes.
2nd time I played the course. Staff was helpful and attentive--i.e. needed to rent clubs. Nice to have access to the practice range before play. Course was in good shape and my friend and I had a great morning round. Will definitely try to play when we visit next year.
Golf was good
The golf was good. The course was in really good shape. Lots of weeds though.
The prop shop check in staff is not friendly at all. I have noticed this being there many times.
Drink and snack cart was by 2 times in 18 holes.
Lots of crocodiles which is neat.
Tough little course
Bring lots of balls. This course is a ball eater. If you don't like a lot of noise, this course is not for you. The airport is close by and the planes fly over every 5 to 10 minutes. Weather was perfect as it was warm but the wind kept it cool enough to play comfortably.
Fun Times
Aside from the fact that the front 9 greens had been punched (necessary maintenance), the course was in good condition and well laid out. Some of the greens are well protected by water - coupled with afternoon breeze that made for some challenging play. Beware the right side of the 18th green - everything runs away into the water. I'd play again at full rate.
