Great Course - just bring your own clubs

I really enjoyed the layout of this course. Weather was perfect, course was in very good shape. However, I am from out of town and didn't bring my clubs. I called before booking the tee time to make sure they had rentals, which they said they did. I get to the course and their rental club bag had SEVEN different club brands in it... They were a bunch of random piece of crap clubs... I think the putter was from a junior club set.
I asked the shop if they had an actual complete set and he said no...
They basically use lost and found clubs to make up their rentals...
Not ideal for a single digit handicap player wanting to go shoot a good round at a new course.

The course itself is excellent. There are definitely a variety of different type of holes. The staff is very friendly especially Matt in the pro shop. I would recommend this course to any level of player

Great layout, staff, and value

I played this course back in May for the first time and liked it. Thought I’d see if it’s an anomaly or it’s still a good play.

This course and related services puts them in my top 5 public courses in a large area in eastern Pa. I drove slightly over an hour and it was worth it. Why?

They’ve got ample staff running things. No lack of available friendly folks to help you, even this late in the season. The restaurant was cute and had standard tavern food. What I ordered after my round was good. They are also expanding the patio area immediately outside and they have a large covered gathering area for parties and groups a stones throw from the pro shop.

The practice range is near everything making it super convenient and you’re visible to the starter. The green is also and large enough for multiple folks to warm up. Off to the side is a practice sand trap and pitching area. Well thought out.

Now the course. Everything is well maintained. It gets a lot of play and all aspects are being taken care of. The traps were a little wet and needing raked but it’s November and we’ve gotten a lot of rain. Other courses are a lot worse.

Four tee boxes. All in good shape.

Greens consistent and with more than average undulations. Too many public courses go for flat and simple. These are a challenge but with their medium cut not bad. If they want to host a higher level tourney all that’s needed is rolling and a tight cut. I really liked that this required me to think about my shot placement. If on the wrong spot a two to three putt is your likely best result as it should be. Which leads me to the flags.

After my round I took my thoughts to the pro shop. The young lady there was super kind and open to my feedback that their flag colors and patterns make it near impossible to determine hole location on the greens. She said today was winter setup and they didn’t indicate location, which I eventually figured out during play, but I told her this was true in May also. I explained better players want the opportunity to fire for birdies and shot placement is needed with these greens. I shared the checkerboard design of the flag is cute marketing but reduces our ability to see it. Again she was cool about it and promised to take it to the superintendent. To her credit this was the first golf staff to seem interested in direct feedback in many I’ve tried. ( I think it better to talk with them directly than only impersonal written reviews.) She then proceeded to share their course history with me which was very interesting. Sounds like the family cares about the business.

What else ? I like how the course starts out standard for a few holes and then throws its design at you. Some course smack you with a tough first hole to stamp their design on you, or wait 14 holes when you’re already done learning the design.

After a few nice warm up holes you play a dogleg par 5 with traps in the turn and then down hill blind shot par 4 over a pond with trees and a stream behind it. Then back to an uphill par 4.

There’s a short sneaky par 4 most play the wrong club into. At one point there are three holes in a low area with some trees and a stream which is a very nice change. You get one par 5 that parallels a dairy farm, possibly Amish as they are near but I didn’t confirm. Number 18 ends with an light uphill par 4 with a monster trap on the left but no others.

I went long but since I’m giving it a rare top review which I don’t do lightly. It’s well designed to really keep a player interested and run very well.

Treat yourself and play a round.

Great, Well Conditioned Course

I've been playing this course ever since it opened. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's set in beautiful, rolling Amish farmland. You'll definitely see and hear some horse & buggies go by during your round. The course is inviting and challenging; it's not going to kill you for mis-hits but you must strike the ball well to score. It's a good course to play if you're starting out your season and want something manageable to play before you progress to more difficult courses or are going to play a few days in a row and start out at a not too tough course. The condition of the course every time I've played has been from very good to perfect. The staff there too is very courteous and helpful and really care about the course and your experience there.

Good challenge, relaxing country views

I have to share first that I loved the country setting. Placed amongst the Amish farmlands and the views were nice benefit to a good golf course. Complimentary range balls and lots of staff to serve you and manage tee times was nice to see. To few run on scarce staffing.

The course had a good challenge. Elevation changes, some blind shots, water, hills, open and tight. A really good mixture of shots are needed here. Not sure I've had this wide of a variety of holes at any course I've played, which is a lot. I won't belabor the point, a really good varied course that required my attention and I WILL be back.

JJF Review

Played on June 26 2019. I called the golf course on June 25 and asked if the course or the greens were being aerified and the answer was no. Well that was wrong. All the tee boxes were in the process of being aerified and mud plugs were all over the tee boxes. Additionally all the greens were plugged and top dressed with sand. The greens would not roll true and were very slow and bumpy. Also the layout was not very interesting. I would not play this course again and if they would have let me play for free yesterday I would have not accepted based on the conditions.

Great Layout, Lots of Fun for All Skill Levels

For the amount of rain we’ve had, Honeybrook is in fantastic condition. Sand traps were in superb shape. Greens rolled nicely and the rough wasn’t overly punishing. All skill levels will enjoy this course. Great layout with a nice variety of holes. Honeybrook is my groups favorite golf course. The 19th hole is warm and friendly with a great selection of food and drinks. My only complaint is that I wish it wasn’t so expensive on the weekends ($70 on Saturday) but the rates are competitive with other nice courses in the area. Treat yourself to a great course and one you can truly enjoy.

Great Course

All handicappers can enjoy this track. Mostly wide open but enough of a challenge that better golfers will be tested. Always in superb condition!!! Nice scenery and very friendly staff. To be honest, I'd play it more often but $68 on the weekends is a bit pricey.

This Course Is A HONEY!

Played early this morning to beat the hot weather. The course is a solid design. Holes have a mice mix of varying length, elevation changes, and doglegs. Greens are very smooth, with subtle breaks. Generous fairways allow for aggressive play off the tee, but there are a number of hazards that come into play. My friend and I played in 3 and a half hours. Only negative was a member who yelled at us to speed up, even though his group was 2 holes behind us. Whatever! Otherwise, 2 thumbs up for Honeybrook!

Great Course, Great Staff

Have played this course several times and its always a great experience. Played there recently and also attended their Demo day. Course in great condition, fair layout, bucolic scenery, reasonably priced, and welcoming staff. The starter guy Steve was fantastic, made me feel welcome, explaining rules and intricacies of course and clubhouse food and drink, and informing me of upcoming Demo day, which i enjoyed. Front counter staff and bar staff also friendly. I enjoyed every hole, except # 14, which was OK but a bit narrow, could use some trees cut down on left side of fairway 50 yards from tee. Overall, a very good golf experience, and reasonably priced!

Very, Very Enjoyable

After you're done playing Honeybrook -- you know you'll be back. This course is always in great condition. Mid to high handicappers will truly enjoy the experience. Most holes have wide open fairways with just enough carefully placed bunkers and water to keep your attention. You can't simply bang the ball and expect to think. My ONLY negative comment is the price -- $68 on the weekends (which is competitively priced for the area) is a bit steep or else I'd play it every week.

Great conditions and fun golf course

It was my first time playing the course and I was very impressed. Not an overly difficult golf course and not to long. Played from the tips and it was very comfortable. It was pretty wide open with some small tree trouble on a few holes. The tees and fairways were in great shape. No bare spots, nice and green and the ball sat up nicely. The greens were just as good. Not overly quick but rolling at a decent pace. The par 3's on the course are pretty long but there isn't much trouble on them, besides number 8 I believe. You have to carry some brush and maybe a creek mixed in there. Plays downhill from an elevated tee and a shot the distance that day at 218 yards. A very cool feature to the course is "Amish Corner" on the back. There is a sign there letting you know you are entering. We traveled down to see family and booked this course for the first time this year. We will be back next year guaranteed!

Still my favorite local track

Since we moved closer last year, this has become my go-to course. The senior tees suit me perfectly and there is a good mix of short and long holes. I'm getting the hang of the few holes with blind tee shots (#5 & #7). Very friendly staff that does a good job of matching me up since I often go as a single. Pleasant bar/restaurant.

Wonderful mid-priced course

What a wonderful place to play. Not overly challenging but if you have a double digit handicap you'll enjoy the forgiveness. Beautiful bucolic layout in farm country. Wide open layout but sufficient challenge from the thick rough, 2 longer par 3s and a few challenging par 5's to make it fun. Great famil.y atmosphere
