Black Bear Golf Club in Longs, S.C. is worth the drive from Myrtle Beach

LONGS, S.C. -- Located about 45 minutes northeast of downtown Myrtle Beach, S.C., Black Bear Golf Club is a serene, affordable alternative just off the Grand Strand.

There are no homes on this 6,787-yard parkland course which opened in 1989. Designed by Tom Jackson, the course works around 23 finger lakes, including the par-5 18th, which can be played over water for those looking to reach the green in two. The water, however, really only comes into play occasionally. Fairways are generous, there are lots of bunkers and if you play the correct tees, you're in for an enjoyable experience.
