Druids Glen Golf Club in Kent, Washington boasts extraordinary views

COVINGTON, Wash. -- In case you were wondering, the Glen was a sacred place where the noble Druids of Celtic times came together to share knowledge, experience and expertise. So giving a course such a name certainly creates high expectations.

With views of Mt. Rainier in the background, elevation changes and the natural landscape of northwest Washington, Druids Glen Golf Club has done a pretty good job of bringing avid golfers together.

Named one of the 10 most difficult golf courses in Washington -- it can play as long as 7,146 yards -- it's also one of the state's most enjoyable, especially if you play the right tees. With elevation changes, more than 60 bunkers and numerous water hazards, the Keith Foster design is carved out of 230 acres of forest.

"It is rare to have an opportunity to design a course on a property as spectacular as this," Foster said. "The views, the elevation change and desire to create a championship quality course made this a special project."

Golfers also enjoy the clubhouse amenities at Druids Glen, including the Tap Room, which has more than 30 beers on tap and one of the best happy hours in the Seattle area, attracting golfers and non-golfers alike.
