Fazio Course completes dynamic Nicklaus-Fazio duo at Pronghorn Golf Club in Bend, Oregon
The second of two 18-hole courses at Pronghorn Golf Club is the Fazio Course, located in the central Oregon town of Bend.
The Fazio debuted shortly after the original Nicklaus Course at Pronghorn, making them the only side-by-side Nicklaus and Fazio courses in the West. The Fazio has five sets of tees and can stretch to 7,456 yards.
Winding through high desert, juniper trees and "ghost trees," the course is visually spectacular throughout the round. The club's most notable feature is the par-3 eighth hole, which plays to a green that is tucked beside two lava tubes. While this is a high desert golf experience played in high altitude, dry air, a few holes have ponds and creeks on them, including the risk-reward, par-5 18th hole that is reachable in two shots for longer hitters.
Managed by Troon Golf, Pronghorn is a private club and residential community. But there is also a Residence Club that offers stay-and-play packages on the Nicklaus. The Fazio Course, however, is private and available only to members of Pronghorn. But there is the possibility for outside guests to play the course in the afternoon accompanied by a host of the club.
