Garrisons Lake Golf Club in Smyrna, Delaware: A local favorite for decades just got even better

SMYRNA, Del. -- Garrisons Lake Golf Club is situated just south of Smyrna and only nine miles north of Dover, putting it at a convenient location to and from all parts of Delaware and the surrounding states.

Though the course has been a local favorite for affordable golf for decades, it underwent more recent renovations that improved the course conditions and made it more challenging overall.

The layout features gently rolling fairways lined with mature trees and large, undulating greens. Some of the major challenges of the round come from the strategically placed bunkers that frame most of the greens.

Thoughtful play will be generously rewarded but it's not a terribly punishing course so beginners shouldn't feel too intimidated. The second to last hole is one of the toughest, a long par 5 that features the course's most difficult tee shot. There is a tricky cluster of trees along the right side that many golfers attempt to carry but few are actually successful in doing so.

In addition to the renovated course, Garrisons Lake also added a large practice range and putting green for golfers to use.
