Golf, luxury among the mountain wilderness at Fairmont Chateau Whistler in British Columbia
WHISTLER, Canada -- Set at the base of Blackcomb Mountain is Whistler's largest hotel and among its most luxurious, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
Less than a two-hour drive north of Vancouver up the coast, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a popular retreat for both skiing and summer activities and attracts an international audience. In the summertime, wildlife is abundant in the area (bears have a habit of finding their way down the mountainsides and close to the resorts).
Just a short drive away from the Fairmont hotel is the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, one of Canada's best mountain golf courses. Set just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean at a low altitude, golfers can play 18 holes and ski on the same day.
The 18-hole golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., winds up and down mountain terrain with scenic views both from the tee box and looking back from the green.
While the golf club is open to the public, guests at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler receive preferential tee times access, and tee times include unlimited golf.
Additional activities at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler include the Vida Spa, health club, and multiple drinking and dining venues.
