Heritage Ranch near Dallas: Not your typical Arthur Hills golf course
FAIRVIEW, Texas -- Generous fairways, superb conditioning and a layout that doesn't bring homes into play make for a winning formula at Heritage Ranch Golf & Country Club, located north of Dallas.
The nearly 7,000-yard, par-72 golf course has six sets of tees, all the way down to 4,000 yards, making it playable for every level of golfer. No forced carries and fairways that seem as wide as they are long make this course very forgiving, perfect for the retirement community that surrounds this daily-fee golf course.
But for good players, going low isn't necessarily a given. While this isn't your typical Arthur Hills golf course -- risk-reward on every shot -- the greens can be tricky to read, making it difficult to sink a lot of putts, especially 5- to 6-footers. But the par 5s, especially with the wide fairways and lack of overwhelming length, definitely provide scoring opportunities. In short, Heritage Ranch Golf & Country Club is fun.
