In East Lothian, don't overlook Longniddry Golf Club

Located in Scotland's historic and golf-rich East Lothian region just east of Edinburgh, Longniddry Golf Club can get a little lost in the shuffle.

Established in 1921, the golf course is an 18-hole, par 68 mix of parkland and more open, links-style holes overlooking the Firth of Forth. For it's shorter distance, it's a pretty demanding test of golf as a result of it's H.S. Colt and James Braid design, with more alterations coming later at the hands of Donald Steele. It's going to be especially difficult to break par here for the simple fact there are no par 5s. Holes 17 and 18 are both long par 4s in their own right as well.

The course is a former Open Qualifier when Muirfield is the host, and has seen the likes of Sam Snead, Tom Watson, Robert De Vincenzo and many other professionals come through for a round of golf. Be sure to stop into the old stone clubhouse. It's one of the area's best even if the golf course gets overlooked, and has a great amount of old photos and paintings from the course and around the area.
