Nicklaus-designed Montreux Golf and C.C.: One of the Reno area's finest upscale private courses

RENO, Nev. -- Located in the foothills overlooking Reno, Montreux Golf and Country Club is one of the area's finest upscale private golf courses.

Opened in 1997, the course is a Jack Nicklaus design and is the host course of the PGA Tour's Reno-Tahoe Open and has been since 1999. Montreux Golf and Country Club weaves through both open high desert areas and tall pines, which makes some parts of the course susceptible to winds, while other holes are dead calm. It can play up to 7,500 yards from the championship tees. While the golf course is the centerpiece of an upscale residential community, homes are well off the fairways and usually barely seen through the pines.

The par-4 17th is a feature hole here and many consider the signature hole, playing from a high elevated tee to a small fairway lined with trees more than 100 feet below. Montreux Golf and Country Club's 18th hole is a long par 5, but during the PGA Tour stop, the nines are flip-flopped and it plays as the ninth hole.

Montreux Golf and Country Club features extensive practice facilities as well as a dining room in the clubhouse.
