PrairieView Golf Club: Scenery, meticulous conditioning and value come together in Byron, Ill.
BYRON, Ill. -- PrairieView Golf Club has a beautiful location that overlooks the Rock River. Since opening in 1992, the course has received several accolades including a four-star rating from Golf Digest and in 2014, GolfAdvisor ranked the course no. 2 overall in their list of the Top 25 Best Value Golf Courses in the U.S.
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, the golf course is part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. The layout sprawls across gently rolling hills dappled with native prairie grasses and wildflowers. The landscape lends itself to a variety of holes from some that are tight and tree lined to others that are wide open with a links-style design. It's a challenging but fair test with more than 60 strategically placed bunkers. There are also ponds and streams laced throughout the course that come into play.
PrairieView G.C. is a favorite course among local golfers for the picturesque setting and affordable rates, but also for the meticulous conditions. The large, undulating greens are rigorously maintained to guarantee a smooth putting consistency.
