Redhawk Golf Club in Temecula is among California's finest non-resort courses

TEMECULA, Calif. -- Redhawk Golf Club has been ranked among the top 10 non-resort courses in California, and for good reason.

It starts with Redhawk's nice collection of par 3s, most notably the island-green eighth, which is the signature hole. The other par-3 holes are No. 4 (with a four-tiered green), No. 12 (where the green is surrounded by waste area) and No. 17 (an elevated tee shot and great view of Temecula). Better get these holes early because they become more difficult in the afternoon when the wind picks up, as does the entire course.

The Ron Fream design measures 7,110 yards from the back tees to 6,095 yards from the front. The ladies tees measure 5,405 yards. The practice area includes 15 driving-range stations and five practice greens.
