The Links Course at Arizona Biltmore Golf Club in Phoenix: More than a few good views
PHOENIX -- Though it's certainly not a links course, the Links Course at Arizona Biltmore Golf Club isn't a desert course either. With plenty of green grass and a few great views, the 6,300-yard Links Course, which opened in 1978, is the newer of the two golf courses (the other is the Adobe Course) at Arizona Biltmore Golf Club, which is located next to the historic Arizona Biltmore Resort in the heart of Phoenix.
Designed by Bill Johnston, who still plays the course regularly, the Links Course has some elevation change, especially on the back nine, which isn't as tight as the front nine. After the uphill par-4 14th, golfers are taken to a tee box well above the par-3 15th green, where the hole plays typically 15-20 yards shorter than its advertised yardage. From there, golfers who play the back tees climb to another tee box on the par-4 17th, where the Phoenix skyline comes into plain view.
Although the views on the last few holes are highlights of the course, they are hardly the only highlights. Water comes into play on several holes, including the par-4 12th, which has a sparkling pond in front of a semi-island green.
The course also shares a putting green, driving range and full-service golf shop and restaurant with the Adobe Course, which opened in 1928.
