The Nicklaus Course at Pronghorn Golf Club in Bend is one of Oregon's top plays

BEND, Ore. -- Located in central Oregon, the Nicklaus Course at Pronghorn Golf Club is one of the state's top public plays. The high desert course is part of the Pronghorn real estate and resort development that encompasses one square mile deep within a Juniper forest about 14 miles from the center of Bend.

The course plays 7,379 yards from the back set of tees, though there are five total sets that play up to 5,256 yards. At an altitude of 3,200 feet, the ball flies a little farther in the high, dry desert air. The back nine is particularly memorable thanks to back-to-back short par 4s, followed by back-to-back par 5s. Managed by Troon Golf since the spring of 2010, the Nicklaus is open to public play as well as guests of the Residence Club on stay-and-play packages. Rounds for the public and resort guests include a forecaddie.

The Nicklaus is one of two 18-hole golf courses at Pronghorn, which also includes the private Fazio Course. It's the only facility to have side-by-side Nicklaus and Fazio golf courses.
