The RSM Classic at Sea Island in Georgia showcases one of golf's most beautiful places

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- Golf fans have a rooting interest for somebody going low on either the Sea Island's Plantation Course or Seaside Course during the PGA Tour's RSM Classic at Sea Island.

Sea Island is one of the most beautiful places in golf, even in the heart of winter. The back nine of the Seaside Course really showcases the beautiful marshes and bays of the Georgia coast. This is the Lowcountry at its finest.

The front nine by legendary English architects Harry S. Colt and Charles Alison dates to 1929. The back nine in the marsh was originally created by Joe Lee in the 1970s, but Tom Fazio worked his magic during a renovation completed in 1999 that created today's routing. Fifteen holes on the par-70 7,005-yard course border the marsh. Caddies are mandatory on Seaside, although golfers can ride or walk.

Everything else about the Sea Island experience is five star: especially the rooms in the Cloister or the Lodge; and the food in the Georgian Room. The Golf Performance Center along the water offers possibly the best mix of instructors and technology in golf.
