Top-rated Arnold Palmer designs on Golf Advisor
(Editor's Note: This story originally appeared on September 10th, 2015, Arnold Palmer's 86th birthday).
We've opened the Arnold Palmer design firm's portfolio to see which courses have fared the best on Golf Advisor.
The results make clear that many of you love playing his designs all over the world. Many times, they are considered to be a little more playable for all levels compared to say, Pete Dye or Jack Nicklaus signature courses. In fact, in a handful of destinations, Palmer's firm has a design among the top courses.
In the Traverse City, Mich. market, Shanty Creek Resort's Legend Course, designed by Palmer, is the tops in the destination.
In San Antonio, the Palmer Course at La Cantera Hill County Resort holds the top spot (and it also topped the Power Rankings the week before his birthday).
In the San Diego area, Aviara Golf Club, which opened in 2007, is currently a close second behind Maderas.
And the King and Bear at World Golf Village (co-designed with Jack Nicklaus) is in second place in the Jacksonville, Fla. area.
Classic Club and SilverRock -- two of his better public golf courses in California -- are in Palm Springs' top 10.
