Tralee Golf Club in County Kerry, Ireland

Located in County Kerry on the southwest coast, Tralee Golf Club is one of the most spectacular links golf courses in Ireland. While the club dates back to 1896, the course is in fact a modern links celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2009, thanks to moving outside of Tralee to a new site in nearby Barrow.

Arnold Palmer Golf Design was commissioned to build the new course, which officially opened in 1984 and features plenty of cliffside holes, starting at the par-5 second hole. The third green sits next to an old stone outlook post, which is open to this stay and you can go inside and explore.

But it's the back nine that has made Tralee one of the most visited golf courses in Ireland, set on striking dunes land and requires some daring shot making from dune-to-dune, like on the par-3 13th hole that is all carry. Perhaps even more famous is "Shipwreck," the seaside par-3 16th that sits next to rocky cliffs where many ships have met their maker in years past.
