Golf Advisor Getaway to Danzante Bay
Golfers who visit the Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa will love the resort and its new golf course, the TPC Danzante Bay. The Islands of Loreto might be the most beautiful stop along the narrow 1,000-mile-long peninsula of the California Baja Sur. The resort opened in 2012 but the golf course by Rees Jones came later in 2017. A Golf Advisor Getaway - co-hosted by The Golf Channel's Matt Ginella and Lakers legend Byron Scott in December 2018 - introduced the luxurious of this growing Mexican destination:
Golfers were able to enjoy the spectacular Rees Jones design for multiple rounds. The 7,237-yard course climbs through inspiring canyons on the front nine, visits the beach briefly for the 12th and 13th holes before the climax is revealed. The par-3 17th hole is already one of the world's great destination par 3s, a hole so dramatic that golfers will come just to play its tee shot. The elevated tees on no. 17 look down upon an hour-glass-shaped green cut into seaside cliffs. The hole sits isolated from the rest of the course on the other side of the Sierra de la Giganta mountains. It was resort developer Owen Perry who made the discovery and pushed for routing changes to accommodate its construction.
Getaway guests also enjoyed the fine food and relaxing pools of the resort and a tequila tasting experience. Excursions away from golf are plenty - hiking, riding ATVs on the beach, visiting the spa or taking a boat ride on the water for fishing or exploring. There's no doubt that Danzante Bay remains one of our most popular Getaways.
