Old world course

This is a classic old-school parkland course with kind of narrow fairways, undulated greens, and modest amount of traps. At par 71, it was challenging enough at just over 6,300 yards, but the tees were brought forward so only played like 6,100 yards. Course layout has some interesting holes, but also a few head-scratchers like, "what was the architect thinking?" Holes tend to be on top of each other so you're better off spraying your t-shots way right or left rather than a bit right or left. OB, hazards and obstacles were clearly marked and relatively well placed, but not many were really concerns or came into play in any significant way. There isn't much water that comes into play. Greens were a little inconsistent in terms of speed, but generally on the medium-side with some slick puts putting with the grain and some slower putts putting against the grain. Need to consider grain when reading, but generally true to the eye. Greens were on the hard side so hard to stop the ball unless a lot of spin is applied. Conditions would be best described as a bit worn and torn, particularly the fairway, although the greens were in decent shape. There was a beverage cart, and the lunch selection was good, prompt at the turn, and tasty enough. Prices were OK. Although a putting green was available there was only two warm-up slots where you could hit your own balls into the net and no range. The key to play on this course is your short game. Compared to some of the modern courses, this one is generally a pass, unless you need to play in that neighborhood AND you like the old-school parkland-type courses, in general.
