After rains course is in great shape. Water features are larger than usual so have to take extra caution on placement. Greens are in great shape.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 01/09/2020Great day at Starfire
The course is in excellent condition except for the greens which had been sanded. As soon as the sand works in the greens will run true. The course is attractive to move through and contains some holes which require thought as to placement and club.
Rancho Manana Golf Club
Played On 12/17/2019Challenging Course
The first nine at Rancho Manana is challenging - narrow with a number of holes requiring thought as to the right club. Read the Helpful Hints on the score card. The back nine also has it challenges with blind greens. Greens were fast the day I was there. I really enjoyed the views from almost every hole. Worth the price just for the scenery.
Encanto Nine Golf Course

Encanto is a municipal golf course which should give you a certain image. Flat, narrow, just the facts. Greens are in good condition.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 12/11/2019Attractive Course
Until today I hadn't played Stone Creek since 2016. I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh look of the course. I had remembered it as being not a very interesting course. Thought it was quite attractive today. Greens were true. Pace of play was extremely slow (4 hours and 40 minutes). A ranger is needed to get groups moving and playing off the right tee boxes.
Paradise Valley Golf Course
Played On 12/10/2019Average municipal course
I didn't have high expectations for this course and they were met. Flat, no interesting features, tee boxes okay, fairways okay and greens okay. If you want to get out and hit balls on a course, Paradise Valley is as good a location as any. Priced right for the value received.
Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
Played On 12/09/2019Best course conditions in Phoenix
The fairways and greens are in great shape. Also found, much to my disgust, that the sand traps are in great shape with soft, deep sand.
The fairways are wide and forgiving and there isn't any water on the O'odham course.
The staff were very helpful in getting me set up. I was greeted at the range and given a verbal outline of how the morning would progress until tee time.
Overall a very good experience.
Encanto Nine Golf Course
Played On 12/05/2019The course for beginners and hackers
I went to Encanto 9 with a friend who is just getting back into golfing. He found the course was open enough that he could find all mishit balls. It provided him with a test of his practice. Perfect day so didn't mind sitting on the benches while waiting on holes. It was slow but what 9 hole course isn't? Not a challenging course as holes are laid out in straight pattern. Only one sand trap and no water.
Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
Played On 12/03/2019Orange Tree has wide fairways
For the average golfer Orange Tree provides wide fairways and open rough that let you recover from being offline on shots. The greens were in excellent condition and are very readable. Holes 9 and 18 are a bit blind which can be concerning for first timers.
On-course bathrooms are available, which is of interest to a certain age group. The bathrooms need an update.
The two putting greens are in great condition but the driving range is average and small.
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club

Course, including greens is in great shape. Could use marshals as pace of play is slow - 4.75 hrs.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 02/23/2017Signage
We found the signage insufficient. It was questionable where to find the next hole. As all the tee markers are the same color it was difficult to ascertain the right tee box one was playing. Had to find the black and count down from there. Coming off the 18th it was a bit of a guess where one went to get back to the clubhouse. Improving the signage all over the course would be helpful for first timers.
