Hilly Course with Great Views on the Back 9

This course is a very well laid out design. There are vey few forced caries and many areas for lay-ups if needed. The greens are not large so it is possible to two putt from most areas of the green (if you're having a good putting day). Quite often you will find yourself with uneven stances when hitting from the fairway. I've played this course 3 times now and the conditions have been great every time. Even this most recent time, when the greens were aerated, the ball still rolled fairly smooth. I really enjoy this course and highly recommend.

Guys Trip Course

Played this course last weekend after finishing up a conference at The Mohegan Sun. Unfortunately, this was the hottest day of the summer (over 100 degrees). We were very fortunate to be able to tee off early and they had coolers along the course filled with ice and bottles of water. Very nice of them! The course can be a little tricky off the tee as not every hole is a driver off the tee, which puts a premium on position golf off the tee. There are numerous fairway bunkers that have fescue around them, which can make it difficult/unfortunate if the ball doesn’t make it to the sand. The fairways were firm and in good condition. The greens were nice and soft and rolled pretty well. They were a little slow for my taste the day we played but they rolled well so that made up for it. Overall, it’s a pretty good course and would recommend playing if in the area.

Difficult New Links Style Course

Played this course a couple days after playing the Bluffs course. I have to say, this course is extremely difficult. I would say as of right now, it's almost set up for the pros because it is so firm; thus, increasing the difficulty.

Regarding the conditions... I said excellent because the course is pristine but here's the full scoop. The fairways are very very wide so there is some freedom to spray the ball but once in the fescue, it's best to just chop out. The fairways are still very firm and this will give one significant roll off the tee and when approaching the green (it's a smart play to land the ball short of the green and get it to bounce and roll onto the green). The greens are incredibly firm, which means that spinning a lob wedge from 80 yards with a full swing will yield a bounce, and no check (surprisingly). The greens are incredibly fast and that makes for some great putting! The greens all have false sides and hitting to the middle of the green is the safest play. The green-side bunkers have a ring of "rough" around them so if can leave a tough shot where the ball is stuck in the rough instead of the bunker (I wished they rolled into the bunker instead of staying the in the rough).

Overall, it's a great, very difficult course to play and I would recommend you play once (at your own peril lol) to say that you've played it but I would wait a couple of years until the conditions soften up.

Scottish-like Course in Michigan

This is the third time I have played this course (4th of July) and it is truly exceptional. The views are amazing and the conditions are just as good. While the fairways are fairly wide and the rough is fairly deep, the course has deep fescue outside of that and a wayward drive will punish you. There are several blind tee shots so hitting at the aiming posts is key.

Combining the wind, tough course layout, and long drives (if you play from the back tees) the pace of play can be quite slow. Unfortunately, my group was stuck behind a foursome that spent 10 minutes looking for fescue shots, putting 1 foot putts, waiting to try and hit every par 5 in two but duffing the second shot. We asked the staff to urge them to play a little bit quicker but with no luck, a 4 hour and 15 minute round turned into a 5 hour and 30 minute round. With the sunshine and beautiful views it wasn't too bad.

The restaurant has indoors and outdoors and the outdoor seating is awesome and the indoor has a great view as well and the food is very good. We were very lucky in that the night we went, they had a bagpiper come out and play at sunset.

I would definitely recommend playing this course!

Pine Valley of the South

This is the second time I’ve played this course. From tee to green this course is in magnificent condition. The fairways give a fairly good amount of run-out off the drive. Off the tee, this course is very much a position course. Unfortunately, it takes playing the course a few times to know where to put it off the tee because if you’re off the fairway just a little and roll into waste”bunker” you are out of position. If you ever find yourself in a waste area here, think about getting out over being heroic and going for the green. Trying to go for too much can backfire and kill your score. These greens are superb - they run true and fast - and these are my favorite greens I’ve played so far. I highly recommend this course to all golfers!

Good course to play with some buddies

I played this course with some buddies of mine during a weekend in Tampa. We played on a Saturday around 10:30 - suffice it to say, it's the middle of summer and it was really hot but not completely unbearable. The pace was really good on the front nine but really slowed on the back making the experience suffer a lot. Course conditions were good considering how much rain a Florida course gets during the summer. I would play again.

A Slice of Palm Beach in Northeast Tampa

This course was in great condition considering it is the dead of summer here in Florida. Of course the greens were soft (from the rain nearly everyday) but rolled decent enough to make some long putts if you get your speed down. The fairways were in good condition and the rough not too luscious. The only knock on the course is the driving range is being rebuilt, so don't expect to get warmed up and shoot the best round of your life. Overall, one of the better courses in the greater Tampa area.

Walked

Streamsong Red -similar to a hilly '14 US Open Pinehurst No. 2 design

This course is truly spectacular - well designed and very peaceful. A buddy and I walked the course, which was very hilly so I recommend renting the push/pull cart to make the experience a little easier. The course was designed by Crenshaw and Coore, lending itself to have little to no rough but has natural dunes and bunkers, which makes the course very scenic. The fairways play very firm, which is great to help the tee ball roll out, but the greens are pretty receptive to low irons and wedges. Unbeknownst to us, the greens were just top dressed and caused the greens to not roll perfectly but they were still in good condition (the only reason the course condition received 4 stars instead of 5). However, the rest of the course was in great condition. I highly recommend this course but maybe call before to learn about the conditions of the greens (if this is important to you).

Phenomenal Course in Greater Orlando Area

As an Orlando resident, I have played quite a number of golf courses in town and I feel this course is one of the best. The conditions of the course were absolutely perfect. The greens were very quick and firm, yet receptive to a well struck mid-low iron and/or wedge. The fairway was in very good shape and the rough as well. I highly recommend playing this course.
