About

I like to have fun when I'm golfing. I myself am fast paced, I play ready golf (that's how my Uncle taught me as a teen) however I don't rush the group in front of me especially if I see that the slow group is three groups ahead. I don't spend to much time looking for my ball. I try to pay attention to where it lands and when I drive into someone else's fairway I look at the tee box and green of the fairway I drove to and if clear I play my shot. If it is backed up I just grab my ball and come back to my fairway and get out of their way.

Great Course for Walkers

gave it a 5* rating cause the course and the people are excellent. the only knock against this course and 99% of courses out there is this. There is no way a solo can book a tee time online. at least prairie lakes answers the phone so you can book, pay and check in online. i do not like wearing a face mask due to my asthma but i also do not like causing trouble. so i try to as much as i can with out having to go inside a building right now.

red is my favorite of the 3 course. White is my 2nd favorite course (it is also the hardest of the 3) and blue is my least favorite. although it is the easiest of the 3 and i always shoot a good score on it. it has the most elevation changes and my fat butt is not quit back in shape enough to handle a lot of elevation changes.

Better Than Cowboys. Not walker recommended (to hilly)

no permanent clubhouse yet. course was in great shape.
only negative: the starter could do a tad better job of observation and then get ahead of a problem before it develops. saw the group that tee'd off 1 had not hit there 2nd shots on 1 (still within in full view of starter.) after almost 10 min had past he should have drove up to them had them wait and let group number 2 go then group 1 can resume. our group skipped them while they where poke assing around on 3. by the time we made the turn 3 other groups had past them. for 120 i do not like skipping holes. but no one likes 6 hr golf. Starters and Marshall's should do better at pace management. for the price im not saying ride someone's butt. but if a group is taking 10 min between shots that is when they need to step in and tell them to pick up the pace.

overall best golfing experince i have ever had. i have been to country clubs that cost more and i have never felt this welcomed and treated this nicely. can not wait to go back when the clubhouse is open and fully stocked

Course in bad shape

One of my favorite course but they have not been taking care of it. tee boxes and fairways are so brown with very little grass. almost like playing on dirt. greens where green but very fast, prollly have not been watered in ages. i would not recommend playing there for the next 6 months. plenty of other course that are in better shape. Staff is very friendly and welcoming as they always are.

Great course but....

i was walking and they made my girlfriend rent a cart. 100% money grab. cause she never moved faster than my walking pace. waste of a cart. their excuse was "we are the 7th busiest course in America" BFD i have been to much busier courses and never has my guest had to rent a cart when i was walking.

if a single do not talk to the pro shop for tee times. go straight to the Marshall in his shack. he will hook you up.

i do not think the pro shop likes out of towners. i mentioned i was from another state 1st time here and instead of being welcoming like most places they acted as if i was a pest. the Marshall/starter where as friendly as can be. giving me course pointers and such couldnt have been nicer.

Course itself is great. layout was great. conditions where as good as what you would imagine a California course to be. I highly recommend this course if you do not bring s guest. just pay the green fees and leave the pro shop. do not look them in the eye or smile. pro shop folks cant stand that.

Good Course

i have played here many times and love this course. there where a couple greens in disrepair but the good folks at Patrick Farms made sure the pins where on the good side of the green. a couple fairways where in rough shape but here are clear signs the course had been flooded so i am not blaming the course for this. even with all that this course is in great shape, i highly recommend it and will play this course any time i am in the Jackson area

Course is getting better

1st off previous owner let the place go to crap. so the new owners are doing their best to get it back to good shape.

Greens are very nice like walking on soft carpet. rolled true, soft enough to leave a diviot. overall i would give the greens a 5*
tee boxes where in pretty good shape 4* there
Fairways still need lots of TLC some had little bits of gravel due to lack of TLC from previous owner 2* there BUT the are getting better. you can see the hard work being put in to this course.
I have played the last course these owners had so i know how good Pecan Trails will be. I will be back

This is also an easy course to walk. the longest walk is from 18 to the parking lot.

great course for single digit handicaps

1st off the reason i would not recommend this to my friends is they all have high handicaps and would be out of balls by hole 7 or 8. if yku are a single digit handicap you will enjoy this course as it is beautiful and a challenge.

the course itself was magnificent . green everywhere and no brown except under the trees. even the rough was green.
the breakfast menu was good. i didnt care for the dinner menu. service all around was top notch everyone was nice and polite good hot dogs and the on course food shack.

if you are a high handicap i suggest going else where or bring patience as this course will eat you alive.

the views are stunning especially from #4 tee box.

as stated by previous reviewres this course was one of the best in Dallas (hard to walk due to elevation changes) but now, for lack of better words, it is a dump. per the pro shop the city still owns the course but it does have a new manager and by the looks of it the new manager has no idea or just doesnt care what shape the course is in. right of the bat you can see what you are in for by looking at the putting green. also 18 green is easy to see from the club house and you can see it looks just as bad as the practice greens. there are several other courses in the area that are in much better shape for about the same price (again i walk so i am going by the walking rate). lets hope the city see's the reviews and gets a new manager in there who knows what they are doing to ge this course back into the great shape it was in before.

still in the best shape i have ever seen it in the last 8 years

I have to agree with the review from 3/26 no one announced the starting times that is the only issue i had ( they have a whole new crew in the pro shop.) There has never been a starter or marshell at lake park in the 8 yrs i have been coming here so nothing new there. But as my last review stated this course is in fantastice shape. a little high on the walking rate compaired to most courses but if the course stays in this kind of shape i have no problem paying the higher walking rate. now that i know they do not announce the tee times anymore i will set my alarm for 20 min prior so i can get to the tee box on time.

Keep the up the good work in keeping the course in great shape.

course is in the best i have ever seen it in.

home course. been coming here over 8 yrs. new staff so i do not know anyone. the few i saw where very polite and professional. course is in the best shape i have ever seen it in. fyi the snap shots above are not of lake park. they took the gps out of the carts, i walk so no issue there, however they need to out the red, white and blue colored flags in like most courses without gps use to let players no if the pin is in the front, middle or back of the green. thats the only downside. play this course if you dont want to lose a ball. as bad of a slice as my brother has even he doesnt lose golf balls at this course. if you go into the bunkers just pick it up and move it out. bunkers are like concrete, they have always been that way and will tear your clubs up.

pretty good course

personally i think the course is pretty good for the price. i have played courses that cost more and are not in as good of shape. greens seem to always be in great shape even with the winter coat on. Fair warning keep your ego in check. this is one of the hardest courses i have played. there is only 3-4 holes if that where you have room for error. most of the holes if you are off the fairway by more than 5-10 yards your ball is gone. if you have ball control you can score good on this course. Personally i like the course. while my group plays course on the north side of dallas i still enjoy coming to country veiw from time to time to test my game and see if i have improved. if you are in the area and want a quick round i would recommend giving them a try

pros:
greens in good shape 95% of the time
nice pro shop people
in a quiet neighborhood and the course goes away from the the main road.
pace of play is good. i have played here about 10 times and round was always 4 hrs or less. cant remember ever being held up by group's in front of us.

really the only con is the pro shop is dated and limited selection.

Used cart

excellent changes to spped up pace

They renumbered 16 of the holes and boy it went from 5-6 hour rounds to down around 4 hrs. bravo. as stated before the nicest greens. only downside is the pro shop wont let anyone walk before noon. and afternoon it is to hot to walk. my issue is the lie they they tell to justify it. one guy says "it is a city policy" another says "most courses wont let you walk on the wekends". both lies cause i have called the city of plano and various courses in plano and surrounding areas even sherrill park which is right next door and everyone allows walkers on weekends.

but i deduct nothing because of that because they course is great and the staff is super nice. highly recommend this course.

TIP:

no breaks at pecan hollow. and if there is a break it isnt so bad that you cant just put a little mustard and pout thru and still go in the cup.

15-17 will destory the score card if not careful. 2 long par 4s that play uphill and a par 5 with uphill approach. 15 has water on the right to grab all the slices because peopl want to go for birds instead of just taking 2 medium irons and a wegde and go for the par. played with a guy haveing a great round and put up a snow man on 15. play smart.

My home course

This is my home course. So needless to say i love playimg here. But to be honest the course, especially the grreens, have gone way down the last couple years.

The course itself is the best for noobs. Hard to lose a ball. I was awful last weekend sparying it all over. Didnt lose a single ball. The fairways and tee boxes where in really good shape. Why does the course put the white tee boxes on 5 right behind the tree branches? Move the box to the left (because thats where my group played from anyway) or cut the branches, please. I cant shape a shot that good.
The only negative i have beisde #5 tee box placement behind a tree is the greens. The 9 hole greens are so pretty. But the 18 greens are in such disarray. Not just the ones by the lake but all over. The front of 3 is almost like a small bunker. The greens still roll pretty good. I dont remember any putt being knocked off line because the green was bad.

I recommend it to play. You will like it. You can go driver on every hole if you wish. And wont suffer to much except if you go right on 8. You shouldnt lose a ball here. I have and am mad everytime. The course is so wide open with only a small handfull of hazards. And no hazards are really in your way.

great for 9 hole muni

This is a great track for a Muni. I golf here whenever Patrick Farms has a tourney going on. There are only vending machines and beer for food options so I left that no stars cause it doesn't apply. The course right now is in excellent condition. Wide fairways but enough hazards, hills and dog legs to bring the reckless or those stupid golfers who think they are good enough to be on Tour back to earth. Play smart, use course management and you won't lose a ball here. During the winter months the fairways and greens were good but some of the tee boxes were so hard you almost need a small power drill to make a hole to put your tee in. Those holes are few and far between and I usually hit of the deck on those holes anyway even now when the tee boxes are in great shape. Staff is very friendly and the value is unbeatable. I would highly recommend it. This is also a good course to walk. I have a cart bag that is to heavy to carry so when I walk the course I just bring a hybrid, 7 iron, gap wedge and putter.

Expected more from Florida

Expected much better from Florida. Wasn't the best course for the money. I've paid less money at other course that were in much better shape. The plus side is they just punched the greens but the greens were still smooth and not bumpy at all. The pros : Fairways were in pretty good shape, nice friendly staff. The cons: no clear cut cart path, Restaurant closes before 5,most tee boxes were like hitting out of the bunker it was so sandy. But the overall course wasn't worth the Golf Now rate of $26 and sure not worth the course price of near $40. Maybe, Hopefully they are just renovating the course.

Great Place To Golf

1st time I've been back to Paradise Point in a long time. Have always loved this place. This is were my Uncle taught me to play so it will always be my favorite golf complex. When I last played here there was only 1 course just to give you an idea how long it has been. Played both the Posse and Outlaw (didn't like and won't play the Outlaw again that's why I'm reviewing the Posse). What I liked about the Posse is it reminded me of my regular course (Lake Park in Dallas see other recommended below) only with more hills and slightly more challenges and a couple of extremely long par 5s. They just need to put GPS in the carts (thankfully my Uncle is a Marshall here so I don't need a GPS) and the price was a little higher than I'm used to for a weekday (i never golf weekends just to crowded) Lake Park is $25 that includes cart w/GPS and tax everything. Will play this course every time I come to visit my side of the family. Highly recommend.
