Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2022No again....
This course had been making progress in repairing their image for being slow. But....3 hours in, our group completed the first 9 holes. At one point, there were seven (7), yes 7, groups between two holes. I called the club house and they said they would send a Marshall out. Tick, tock; tick, tock.....No Marshall ever came to check on the situation.

Pace of play was decent. They are trying to address this challenge and they know they have a reputation for slow play. Some bunkers need improving. Hotdogs are great!

There are a few rough spots and a few bunkers that need to be considered GUR.

One of the top courses in the greater St. Louis area. Tough course.

I do not think the PGA would approve of this course. I do not think it would be considered safe! It would be shut down. The layout is crazy at best! Greens were decent. The space is sufficient for 12 holes.
Great bar with tvs for post round discussions.

The course is undergoing drainage repairs till about May. Check back in June and you'll love this course. You can get around and have an enjoyable round but bunkers and just off the fairways are under repair. Right now, it's worth $20 but not more.
Spencer T. Olin Golf Course
Played On 06/24/2018Always a pleasure...
The course is always in good shape and the staff is friendly. Worth the drive. For some reason, this course tends to back up on holes 14, 15, and 16. But hey, there's always Fast Eddies!

Course is in good shape. Putting surface is well ahead of schedule. You will use every club in your bag.
Florissant Golf Club
Played On 9/4/2013No way!
Stay away! This course used to be in pretty good shape. However, the tee boxes were a mixture of weeds and other native grasses. The fairways were decent on only about 30%. The greens were in pretty good shape. The sand bunkers were awful. It looks like the new management is Dave Casper golf. Conditions look like it belongs more to the old Raiders tight end because the course resembles the Black Hole. Save your $ and wait to see if the city invests the money needed to run a real golf course.

Played On 08/22/2013Attention Needed!
Tucked away behind the Chesterfield Airport and the St. Louis Premium Outlet Mall, you'll find this course. Clubhouse is decent and staff is friendly. As for the course, cart paths are horrible and bumpy. Tee boxes are cluttered with debris and weeds. Fairways are ok. Greens are cut low and are pretty fast. You'll notice several members of the maintenance crew all working but cutting grass that has nothing to do with the field of play. New tee boxes are being built. Course is messy. Overpriced. I had not been there in several years and after 9 holes, I remembered why. It's just not a "must play" course when the St. Louis/Illinois metro area offers many more options.
Innsbrook Resort Golf Course & Clubhouse
Played On 7/27/2013While we're young....
Avoid if possible! As for the course, the tee boxes are in good shape. The fairways are pristine. The greens roll true. The sand bunkers were in good shape. The clubhouse serves great cheeseburgers (You will want to get two they're so good.). HOWEVER, the pace of play is horrible. There is a marshal at the first tee to coordinate the golfers who have checked in for play but they end their duties at that point. The back up on hole 4 (long par five with water on the left) can be as much as 4 groups. The problem is that the course allows too many golfers (tee times are only 6 minutes apart when they need to be 11 minutes.). Also, you have several "weekend only" golfers who play from the back and near back tees that should be " Playing if Forward" to speed up play and make this hard course more playable. Play this course only during the week when fewer golfers will be there. If not, plan for a 5 plus hour round!

Service in the clubhouse was excellent. We got there early and they let us tee off early. Tee boxes like carpet. fairways were perfect and withstood the off and on rain throughout the day. Greens were a bit slow but rolled true. Sand bunkers were excellent. This is one of the best courses in the area. The surrounding houses are beautiful to view and do not come into play. Please remember to repair your ball mark plus one! When you're done, take your appetite to Lotawata Creek restaurant and try the massive burgers and sweet tea!

Great course! The tee boxes were immaculate. The fairways were in great condition. The greens were smooth, perhaps a bit slow. The bunkers (not many) were in good shape. This course from the white tees is not that difficult. Back up to the blue tees and you've got the need to make some great drives in order to set up reasonable iron shots for par. The staff is very friendly. A beverage cart circles the course often. There's even a snack stop at the turn. This course is certainly worth the drive!!!

Played On 7/20/2013Plan your Open Championship!
In light of The Open Championship, I selected a self-proclaimed links styled course. I like courses that have a range and nice size putting green in order to get a proper warm up. The tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were in excellent shape. The greens left a lot to be desired. They were slow, bumpy, and full of unrepaired ball marks and foot prints. I repaired 2-4 ball marks on every green. The sand bunkers were in good shape. The course does not play like the ones in Scotland. Don't expect 30-80 yard roll outs. The clubhouse had no food except for one last hotdog. Come on! It's 5pm on a Saturday. Really! All things considered, it's a very good course. Play it in the morning and then play Pevely Farm in the afternoon.

Played On 07/11/2013All three nine hole courses are nice.
This course is in great condition. The tee boxes, fairways, greens are in pristine condition. The sand bunkers are filled with pretty coarse sand so don't expect Pebble Beach sand quality. Plenty of deer on the course as well. Get to the course well before your tee time and take advantage of the best practice area of any public course in St. Louis. Then, head up to the fabulous club house and have a grilled chicken sandwich (ask for the grilled peppers and onions also) and then hit the links. You will not regret it! btw, when hitting your approach shots, take an extra club!
Annbriar Golf Course
Played On 7/05/2013A Must Play!!!
This course is always in the discussion for Best Course in the St. Louis Metro area. It's gentle rolling hills are a beauty. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers are in pristine condition. And no sink holes that I saw. I played it July 5th and was reminded of the delays associated with a holiday weekend. There was no Marshall on the course to keep the groups moving. The biggest problem was that they allowed two-somes to play as two-somes which caused several backups. Get there early and allow time to practice at their range, chipping area, and putting green. After the round, enjoy a cold one near the window and watch groups approach the 14th green. Enjoy!

Great clubhouse. Driving range and putting green available. Great tee boxes, fairways and greens. Nice sand bunkers. Never a flat lie. Be sure you are comfortable hitting shots above and below your feet. Enjoy.
Stonewolf Golf Club
Played On 6/30/2013Beware of the first 4 holes!
This is a fantastic course. If you survive the first four holes, take a deep breath and press on! Great clubhouse. Nice driving range and putting green. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are excellent. Bunkers have nice quality sand. Residents each take care of specific greensand this maintains the championship quality of their performance. Move up one tee box and enjoy the scenery.
Gateway National Golf Links
Played On 06/27/2013Great course!
Clubhouse very accommodating to early start. Driving range/putting area nice. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in great shape. Bunkers could use some attention. They are moving overflowed water on hole #17 but their machine and the water do not affect play unless you are 20 yards short and right of the green. Course also provides a few good views of downtown St. Louis. Enjoy!
