BraeBen Golf Course - 9-hole Academy
Played On 10/23/2021Great course for beginners
My daughter and I played this course. She is new to golf and it was a great experience. It wasn't busy and we had our own twosome. I was able to give her some instruction as we played. The round took 2.5 hours which was long but since no one was behind us we were able to take our time and enjoy the day. Normally she would have to pick up her ball to keep pace.
Also the staff in the Pro shop were very nice and accommodating since showed up 5 minutes late for our tee time.

Staff is extremely friendly. A gentleman greeted us in the parking lot and asked if we required push carts. We did and then he picked them up and brought them to us in the parking lot. The course had a lot of hills and valleys. Every hole was set up so you couldn't see the tee boxes from the other holes. It felt like you had the entire course to yourself. A very enjoyable experience.

Played On 07/24/2018Tight course, well maintained
Really enjoyed my round this morning. The course was in immaculate shape. The greens were freshly cut and slightly wet from the morning dew so putting was a bit of challenge. The ball got covered in grass clippings and didn't roll true but no complaints. The staff was friendly and the course layout challenged my ability to play strategically around a course with tight fairways where a driver off the tee isn't always the best option.

Course was in great shape. Challenging on some of the longer par 3's. Houses surround the course so it's important to keep the ball in play.
Hidden Lake Golf Club - New Course
Played On 05/20/2018Great track!
Course conditions were very good however I found the greens a little slow for my preference. Staff is very friendly. 16th is a nice little par 4 with multiple bunkers. Not an easy hole to make par but fun to play!

This course allows for some creativity with an undulating landscape and pin placements that keep you thinking during the round. Allows for a variety of clubs that can be used during play. It was a bit hard to find with lack of signage but it's well worth the trip.
Lowville Golf Club
Played On 10/15/2017Windy, Wet and Warm
The greens were in incredible shape for this time of year. There had been a significant amount of rain and the course was soft to the point where your ball would plug on the approach shots. The greens were quick which made them more difficult than what they usually are. It was a great round for this time if year.

The course is fairly open with some challenging holes. Found the greens a little fast to navigate and lost more strokes than normal. Course was in great shape and finished the round in 4 hours.
Hidden Lake Golf Club - Old Course
Played On 04/27/2014First round of the year
It was nice to get out and golf but the course wasn't ready and there were a number of temporary greens. On some holes where you couldn't see the green clearly you would take a shot based on the yardage indicators. Then you walk up and find that they moved the green up on the fairway and your ball is on a tarp covering the real green. On some temporary greens on the fairway I was literally putting through divots.
It would have been good to know this in advance.
Tyandaga Golf Course
Played On 8/17/2013Lightning fast greens
Course was in excellent shape tee to green. Not overly challenging. However I found the greens to be lightning fast. Tough to spin back the ball on approach shots. Also judging the speed of putts was also difficult with 6 foot putts can end up 5 feet past the hole after barely touching the ball.
Burlington Springs Golf Club
Played On 8/3/2013Sloppy when wet
I wouldn't recommend playing this course after a rainfall. The course had drainage issues on a number of holes. Large puddles on the fairway which make play difficult. If you miss the fairway the rough is thick. When it's also wet it's very difficult to get out. The sand traps were like cement due to the wetness and very difficult to determine the bounce. In dry conditions the course would play much easier.
Not a fan of having a large tree in the middle of the fairway to protect the green. This course has this feature on at least 5 or 6 holes - which is too much for my liking.

Played On 6/1/2013Target golf, some hidden holes
Course knowledge would help on this track. Some holes dogleg very hard. If you don't reach the apex of the dogleg with your first shot you'll end up wasting a shot just to get into position for a direct line at the green. Some very challenging blind holes.
Overall it's a decent track to play and would recommend.

Played On 5/25/2013Short but sweet
Course is well maintained and in really good shape. There are a higher number of par 3's on this course than the typical courses I play but from the blue tees a few of them are over 170 yards.
Although it's a short course it's fun to play and you have the opportunity to use every club in your bag.
Knollwood Golf Club - New
Played On 5/4/2013This course has some great features
There isn't a practice range nor a driving net for warm up. Small practice green. There's a 20 foot wide area of ground under repair that goes across the entire first hole directly in the landing area.
Course knowledge is key as there are hidden doglegs and blind landing areas.
Decent course overall.
Hi bluesphere7.
Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us, and for the 5 star review!
Make sure you come back in June if you like fast greens! :)
