South at Michigan City Municipal Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2017Municipal Gem
For a municipal course that gets a lot of play the course was in good shape. There is a nice mixture of easy, moderate and very challenging holes. You will use all the clubs in your bag at Michigan City South. Some water and quite a few hazard to keep it interesting. Not much sand, although I managed to hit into a few bunkers. Good value for any level golfer.
Beechwood Golf Course
Played On 07/25/2017Beechwood Golf - Laporte, IN
This is an old style course with a fair amount of trees but very little water. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape, especially for a public course. You will use every club in your bag here. There are some longish par 5's and interesting doglegs. We probably played the wrong tees - should have played the gold (we all have our Medicare cards). But it was a fun and beautiful day.
Elbel Park Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2016Great Municipal Course
This course is owned by the city of South Bend, and they are thinking of selling it. I hope they don't because this is a very nice muni. Carts have GPS, which is rare for any municipal course. Plenty of tee boxes, so golfers of any skill level can play. Wooded (but not too narrow) with lots of wildlife (love the egrets). You will not regret making a special effort to play Elbel Park. If the city sells, it may not be a golf course for long.
