Bountiful's AMEN corner

Arrived at the course after 4:00pm local time. Played a full 18 - riding - and done well before 7:00pm. Granted, it's a Sunday in Utah, but I was literally the only one on the course after 5:00.

Welcoming and professional staff! Pro shop is stocked and affordable. The first tee shot prepares you for what you should expect for your entire round - amazing views, well-manicured fairways and surprisingly receptive and fast greens. The rough is not extremely punitive, but expect flyer lies and aim short of the hole if your drive lands in the long stuff.

The back nine is where this local favorite earns its' reputation. After a quick ride through the tunnel beneath Bountiful Blvd, your tee shot (I took two, one from the back tees and a second from the whites) should favor a fade to a fairway that has panoramic views of The Great Salt Lake. Majestic!

The 10th hole begins Bountiful's AMEN corner - there are 3 holes above the road that make this course worthy of a visit to all golfers visitng SLC. The 11th is incredible, especially from the back tees. Grab your camera and set it for panoramic. Placement is more valuable than distance here - find the fairway and the green is yours. The 12th turns you back down the mountain before crossing the road to finish on the main track.

Things you'll see - The Great Salt Lake; Panoramic views on North SLC; Antelope Island; Deer...lots and lots and lots of deer - they are not afraid. Also, I took a cart, but this course is walk-able...for the fit. There is sufficient elevation change to make this demanding if you're less than healthy (carts are gas-powered).

I did not use the practice facilities and hit the first tee directly - I hope to provide feedback on the practice / putting area and food / beverage service on a subsequent visit.
