Portmarnock Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 08/21/2014a day to remember
Playing a true links style course is great but playing it in Ireland is fantastic. Portmarnock offers a challenge to all. Some of the carries over the fescue are long. Pot bunkers are everywhere. There is 1 par three on the back nine where the green is surrounded by pot bunkers, the Irish Sea on the right and from tee to green is fescue requiring an accurate tee shot.
The staff were wonderful. The meal was excellent. I met many members who wanted to chat with a yank. I spent a couple of hours just chatting with the members.
It is expensive but worth every Euro.
Quintero Golf Club

I played this local course 4 times prior to playing Portmarnock Golf Club in Ireland. This was because of length and sloop rating. As it turned out Portmarnock was a bit easier to play than Quintero.
Quintero as many elevation changes. One par three the cart path is like Lombard Street in Frisco.
Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Played On 1/6/2013course needs some help
Historically this course has always been wet due to poor drainage and watering. The wetness has been reduced. The greens and fairways are in average condition (but should be much better at this time of year) but the tee boxes need help.
Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia
Played On 11/11/2012Challenging at times with great features
Challenging at times due to the tall native grasses, definitely not senior friendly. The bunkers need real sand as they felt like hitting off hard pack. The greens for the most part were very good, some unfortunately needed some attention.
Union Hills Golf & Country Club

I heard from several players that the rough is higher than normal where it is extremely difficult to locate a ball that falls into the rough. I played all summer and never encountered the rough so tall as it is now.
