Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 08/19/2023Very Good Conditions - Very Slow Pace
Conditions very good all round. Greens are fast and firm, fairways in good shape. Bunkers were sloppy, but it was late in the day. Use a rake, people.
Front nine pace was 2 1/2 hours. Group ahead had almost two open holes in front of them. No sign of a marshall. Fortunate that they quit after nine.

Played On 07/01/2023Greens Healing Well
Only got a few holes in before the course was closed due to lightning - got an 18-hole rain check, which was much appreciated.
Just a couple of weeks after aeration, but the greens are healing well.
Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 06/17/2023Firm & Fast With a Mix of Good & Bad Manners
Late Saturday afternoon tee time. Ended up a single behind a foursome, but still finished the front in around 2 hours. Ended up joining with them (good guys) on the back when they lost one at the turn.
Course is in mid-summer shape - very firm and fast. Greens are still really nice. Most of the tees are rock hard - I might bring a hammer next time.
BAD manners from someone hitting into the green on #13 BEFORE we even left the green. Then a group of teens jumped in front of us on 14 tee. What's the rush?

Played On 05/26/2023Fast and Firm
Played the front nine late on a Friday. Off on time, finished in 2:10, which is good for Wwood. Course is very dry throughout some of the tees take some work to get a peg in. Green are nice as usual, There looks to be a fair amount of maintenance work going on. Paths continue to be upgraded.

Played On 02/26/2023Avoid his Sloppy Mess
A nice layout that continues to decline. Granted it's winter, but there's no evidence they're even trying (except for the nice new bridges). The greens are in good shape. Fairways are shot, bunkers are abandoned. Sad.
I'd play it at $20 on a nice day, but nothing more than that.
Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 09/03/2022Friendly Staff - Great Conditions - Slow Play
Mid-afternoon Saturday, went off as a single. 90 degrees and humid (NC summer). Conditions very good throughout, just a few tees struggling.
Got waved through a foursome on 4 tee (thanks!), zipped along through 11. Caught a thressome on 12, bogged down from there. Ended up skipping 14 and 15, but still an enjoyable afternoon.

Played On 07/30/2022Met the Low Expectations
The Good - $24 for 18 holes, sub-3 hours on a Saturday. Fast cart.
The Bad - Greens were still healing from aeration, bumpy and inconsistent.
The Ugly - Rock-hard fairways, untended bunkers.
Such a nice set of holes - and such a same FSC can't/won't address the fairway turf challenges.
Hedingham Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2022Winter conditions, but nice greens
First playing this course. Late morning round on a sunny day. Heavy rains earlier in the week resulted in paths only. Greens were smooth and true. Fairways, rough, and fringe areas still dormant - numerous bare dirt lies, even in the fairway.
Decent layout, but the density and proximity of housing materially impacts the experience. You feel like you're in someone's back yard the entire time - and the OB stakes are really close on some holes.
Clubhouse staff was friendly and efficient.
Not a bad experience, worth trying again when conditions are better. Maybe the trees will block out some of the houses.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Hedingham Golf Club.
Olde Liberty Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/10/2021Better - Still Rough Around the Edges
Had not played here in about 2 years even through it's 10 minutes from my house. Progress has been made on fairway turf, though the edges are still largely bare and bumpy. All day rain the day before, so the traps were flooded. Greens were a bit slow, but in good shape. A few tees showed signs of struggle. Cart paths are generally OK, but the uneven spots are really uneven - caution is required.
It's a nice, challenging layout - just wish they could smooth out the rough edges. For sure worth $25 if you can get that rate.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Olde Liberty Golf & Country Club!
Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 09/18/2021Good conditions and new paths
Mid-afternoon start on a humid Saturday. There's now a net between #1 and the range - no more range balls on #1!
Several fairways had numerous brown/yellow patches - unknown if that is due to heat, lack of water, or ?? Didn't really affect playability. Course seemed a bit dry throughout.
New paths are much appreciated!
I've never through of WWG as a value round, but the greens are generally great and it's a nice collection of holes.
Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 08/21/2021Great Conditions
Walked 11 holes as a single late on a humid NC afternoon. Fairways, greens and tees are in great shape. Didn't much use the new cart paths, but they look to be significantly improved. Only negative was the tree debris on the sides of a few holes, but it was in places I shouldn't have been anyway.
Beachwood Golf Club
Played On 05/29/2021Greens punched and HEAVILY sanded 5/28
Had not played this course in ~ 30 years. Selected it based on early tee time and price. Learned after paying that greens were punched and sanded the day before. Did NOT see that on web site when booking.
We were the first group out at 6:45, finished by 10:15. Rest of course is in generally decent shape, Several areas of active maintenance,. Beware the off-road cart path on #10
Not the most interesting track, but it's golf. People were friendly. But not disclosing green conditiions is bad form.

Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 07/11/2020Good layout, very good conditions
Maybe my fifth time on this course. Hot July afternoon round. Blue tees, 6500 yd - a challenging layout. The course is inside a development, so there are numerous houses framing many holes.
Greens are healing from recent aeration, but still ran fast and true. Fairways are consistently very nice. Not much rough, occasionally bare. Bunkers were in good shape despite overnight rain. Tees are the weakest area - several were in the process of being re-sodded, so at least they're trying. Some cart paths are bumpy, but it looks like maintenance is happening there as well. Overall very good conditions.
Pace of play was excellent - never waited on a shot. Finished in about 4:15. Got a late start due to cart shortage, which wreaked some havoc on groupings. Staff was fairly friendly. Very robust COVID practices in place.
Wil-Mar Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2020Mostly Good Conditions, Enjoyable Round
Fourth time on this course. Hot July 3rd afternoon round. A shortish layout, even from the back tees - partially a result of 6 par-3 holes.
Greens are healing from aeration, running a bit slow but mostly true. Fairways are consistently very nice. Not much rough, often bare. Bunkers in great shape. Tees are by far the weakest area - several are largely bare, others are extremely hard. Cart paths are getting pretty long in the tooth. Practice tee needs some TLC. Overall good conditions - you can tell they're trying.
Pace of play was excellent - never waited on a shot. Finished in 3:45. Staff was friendly. Standard COVID practices in place.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Wil-Mar Golf Club.
Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course
Played On 03/22/2019Nice course in great condition - pace of play a problem
Third time on this course. $80 on course web site seemed very fair for this time of year. A very enjoyable course in great condition. Tees, fairways, and greens were super. Rough is just starting to come in, but it's very playable. Everyone I encountered was friendly and polite.
Only negative is the 5-hour duration of the round. Never saw a marshal/ranger. Foursome two groups ahead of us had almost two full holes open in front of them. King's North is a fairly compact layout - there's some trouble, but nothing that should make a 5-hour round the norm. It's easy to fill the tee sheet this time of year - maybe they don't need to care.

Played On 11/04/2018Improving - still a ways to go
Played late morning on a GroupGolfer voucher.
Finally some grass in the fairways! Not everywhere, but you don't have to search for a patch of grass to hit from. Rough is still just that. Greens rolled well.
There's finally a friendly face in the clubhouse - hope he doesn't get worn down and quit. Still no snack bar, but there's no visible restrictions on bringing your own food & beverage. Carts are a hot mess.
Still really like the track - hoping the improvement trend continues. C'mon Fred Smith folks - spend a few $ and make it 4 star!

Willow Springs Country Club
Played On 05/26/2018Nice layout, great value - needs some attention
Drove a bit from Raleigh area to check out this venue, a former small-town country club. A true trip into the past. Played on a $20 discount voucher.
Facilities showing significant age, but it was a fun day. Staff was consistently friendly and helpfull. Smalllish range on the back side of the cart barn had good turf and was adequate for warming up. Practice putting green was very small and overly sloped. Nice day, weather-wise. Course was soggy from recent rains.
First tee featured a throwback ball rack like you used to see at your local muni. Tees were shaggy throughout, especially the blue tees. Check the card before deciding on tees - the front nine blues are 3,600 yards!
This is a fun layout on a compact piece of land - a very walkable course. Walking would be a good idea - cart paths are well past their prime. Fairways were in good shape. Small greens were very slow and showed evidence of winter kill. Bunkers were reasonably well-groomed.
It's a hoof from Raleigh, but a fun day and good value at $20. Wish they had the resources to spruce things up and tighten the conditions.
Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course
Played On 05/09/2018Fun Course - Excellent Conditions
Booked online through course web site - $72 after 1:00 pm felt like a very fair price for this course and this time of year.
Arived about 50 minutes before tee time. Bag drop team friendly and helpful. Easy checkin (prepaid). $4 for range token. Range conditions good, but a clock would be a welcome addition. Putting green near #1 tee was true to course conditions.
Course in excellent condition throughout - fairways were a just a wee bit shaggy. Greens putted true, but judging the break was often a challenge. Water in play on almost every hole. Nice layout, but it's a test from the gold tees - 7 of the 10 4-pars are near or over 400 yards, all 5 on the back nine.
I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Umstead Pines Golf & Swim Club at Willowhaven
Played On 04/21/2018Enjoyable layout - needs to grow in - look for deals
Played early afternoon. Nice routing and mix of holes. Several challenging 4 pars. Houses are visible, but do not impact the experience.
Conditions are decent for this time of year. Greens are healing from aeration, but rolled reasonably consistently. Lots of subtle breaks. Fairways are thin.
Not much of a pro shop, but it serves the purpose. Smallish range - hitting area was fairly beat up.
$42 for Saturday afternoon is pricey vs. other area courses. I'd go back at a better price point. Look for deals. Overheard that they aren't on GolfNow.
