Overall, well worth it (if you don’t pay retail)

Stayed at Hard Rock. Was stoked that there was a Nicklaus course on property.

The course layout is very good. It’s well-maintained. Greens were in good shape. I played 5 times in 7 days, so obviously I enjoyed it.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t include the downsides. The practice facility golf balls are literally the worst collection of shag balls I’ve ever seen. You can’t charge $225 for a round and have a range that terrible and balls that pathetic. The chipping and practice green are fine but the range itself is ghastly.

Also, for the value, you gotta book the night before or the day of. I played for about $90 each time which was what it should cost. You’ll pay a premium if you want to play early morning, and I’m sorry, that’s just not a $200+ experience.

Overall? My experience was very positive. If I came back to Hard Rock I’d play it every day like I did. Just be aware of the shortcomings and plan accordingly.

Perfect round, with only one tiny beef

It’s the best value in Vegas for golf. Bar none. This is the place to golf. Trust me. You’ll be glad you did.

My only complaint, and it’s a tiny one but to me it matters. You gotta have a hot dog for less than $10. I don’t want my hot dog wrapped in bacon, and I don’t want chips. Heck, I’d be fine with $8.

I wound up going down from the dining room to the turn shack and buying one from them bc the dining room has bacon wrapped dogs. $10 is too much. Otherwise, restaurant has great breakfast, the staff is good, and the courses are all spectacular.

Beautiful course

I have nothing but positives, great course, with only one negative…gotta get some new range balls. Those things are 100 years old. If you’re gonna charge as much as you do, gotta have range balls that are a year or two old.

An Uneven Experience

The starter was rude, so we started off on the wrong foot. I commented to my foursome that everyone was entitled to a breakfast ball if they needed it (they don’t have a range, after all). That guy started complaining about how much it slows down pace of play, and was really just a complete jerk. We were playing at 7:40 am and we play very fast, we weren’t slowing anyone down.

The ranger had absolutely zero knowledge of the course and followed us around constantly (we finished 2 holes ahead of the people behind us and played well below 4 hrs. It was annoying.

Now the good…the course was in decent shape. A few of the greens are completely asinine and the ball just rolls off because they’re terrible, but on balance they were ok. The guy in the clubhouse was nice, the hot dogs at the turn were great, and we had a lovely time.

Gotta get a new starter. That guy really was not the best representative of your course. Being old and surly shouldn’t be the only requirement.

A Quick Review of the Property

I couldn’t play my round bc I couldn’t get there in time, which I was super bummed about as I’m not local to the area. I did come late and use their facilities.

Beautiful grass tees on the range, good chipping and putting area, and excellent clubhouse. Not a bad word to say. Course looked gorgeous, can’t wait to play someday. I was left very impressed.

Good course, but the cart path needs replaced yesterday

I love the course, love the layout. It doesn’t drain terribly well but hard to fault them.

What I can fault them for is making us play cart path only when the cart path is completely disintegrated. If you can’t afford to have one, fine, at least put down some gravel or something.

One of the best courses I’ve ever played

The whole experience was flawless. The guy who served me food was good, the pro shop staff were over and above and took great care of me. The moronic airline lost my sticks and they gave me a set to use which was an unnecessary but appreciated courtesy.

The course itself is impeccable. Greens are speedy. Wished the clubs had a 60 degree wedge but that’s my only gripe.

I will definitely be back

Beautiful course with a great layout

What a gem! I loved the course layout, tons of great holes. It was priced reasonably, if anything it’s a touch underpriced. There was a hole on the front 9 that had a tree going over the tee box that necessitated hitting outside the tees which was odd, it just needs trimmed back a touch.

I’ve played just about everywhere in Medina County and as far as public tracks go I’m not sure there’s any better. I played at 7:30 am so I can’t speak to the pace or play complaints people had, we finished in under 4 hours with no waiting.

Great value and excellent staff

I don't play a lot of public courses, but with how much I enjoy Chippewa, I don't see the need to play any others. The staff is friendly, they take good care of the course, the greens were in phenomenal shape for March, I really can't say a single bad thing.

Can't wait to go back.

A perfectly serviceable, albeit mediocre public course

The course layout on some holes is weird. The hole where you hit over a weird ravine and aim at a tree comes to mind. There’s some good holes and some lousy holes. It’s not bad. It’s really dry and really hard.

Welcoming and hospitable, course was nice too

A+, played here bc 2 people told me it was one of the best options in the area. They were right. I played the Estate course last year and found them of a similar quality and course design. It's a smidge pricey but they didn't miss on any of the expectations I'd have for that price level so I can't complain at all.

Good course, traps need work

The sand traps were not in great shape.

That is the only complaint I have, the layout was really nice. I'd definitely like to play it again, especially if the sand traps got cleaned up. It was like hitting out of a bunch of rocks. I'd be a little more forgiving on the trap conditions, but for what they normally charge for a round, you'd expect a little more.

I'd still recommend the course to anyone.

Solid course, back nine better than front

Good municipal course, greens were in good condition, our pace of play sucked because we were behind a scramble. Clubhouse is fairly small. There are rumors that some from Stow want to sell off the course, it'd be a lousy idea, Fox Den is an asset to the community.

Beautiful course, challenging but playable

I'm a duffer, but I found the course both beautiful and fairly challenging. They gave out free bottled water, which was a nice touch. Range was free along with a round of golf. Course was well maintained. Greens were in good shape and reasonably fast. I'm not sure I'd play for regular price (close to $70) but at $41 a pop it was an excellent value. Quality wise, I'd consider it slightly better than Mallard Creek, my other favorite NEO course.

This course is a lot like my golf game...

It's a fun course to play with your friends if you're an occasional golfer looking to have fun. It's short, lacking any par 5's or even a hole longer than 370 yds. It's also extremely inexpensive, I've played 18 with a cart for less than $20 at prime times (ie in the morning). It is true that the fairways and roughs are virtually indistinguishable. If you compare it to courses that cost $40 to play, of course it comes up short. Take it for what it is, a very reasonably priced course. Also the staff are quite pleasant and the concessions are dirt cheap.
