Nice enough course

First I need to start with an open letter to Starters everywhere: If someone arrives 45 minutes early for their tee time, please let them warm up. I have been repeatedly rushed to tee off well before my tee time many times over the past couple years. I understand the starter is trying to manage pace of play, I understand there "is a large group behind me". But I'm out at your course for a relaxing walk in the park. - I do not want to feel rushed, especially when I stated twice that I need to warm up. I had a dangerous case of the shanks on the front nine as a result. On with the review...

The parking lot is large but is lacking trees and an EV charging station. When I walked up I had to chase down the attendant who was prepping carts for a large group by herself.

The Pro Shop was well marked for social distancing and the young man at the register acted as if I knew my way around - that is to say he didn't offer any information about where to go - I had to ask.

The carts are basic and do not include a cooler for ice, which sucks because one of the very visible signs says no personal coolers. This made it impossible to keep drinks cool thru the front nine. Also there was no beverage cart. The carts don't have GPS either and the pro shop doesn't have yardage books. You'll need to BYO third-party GPS app. The print out on the scorecard (had to get that from the starter) is inadequate to show the severity of the doglegs.

I played from the white tees with my buddy for the day and found it plenty long. The rough, fairway and greens were green and well maintained. the bunkers looked like cement - thankfully I was able to stay out of them all day.

Overall the course is wide and flat. You will find your ball in most cases unless you dunk it into the water, a neighboring house or duck hook into the driving range along the 18th fairway.

I picked Boulder City Golf Course because I noticed they offered booking as a single thru GolffNow app, usually they only allow 2-4.

I will likely return if there is a special rate available thru GolfNow..

Worth a drive to the middle of nowhere

Parking was scarce and not many trees to provide shade. There wasn't any electric vehicle charging station.
Due to the late tee time, I was warned that I probably wouldn't get a full 18 in before sunset - fair enough.

The driving range had unlimited balls in decent condition and plenty of targets to shoot for. Cart parking was a bit awkward. I recommend spending extra time on the practice green. It is very representative of what you will encounter. on the course. The starter let me know when to check in and where. The cart was basic (gas powered / no gps) but had 6 bottles of water and plenty of opportunities to refill around he course. The beverage cart made one appearance on the front 9 only.

The corse condition was great and looked amazing - except the greens. The greens were a bit soft and looked worn from all the days traffic. I think the green conditions cost me about 4 strokes. The rest of the course was no-frills and very challenging.

I ended up skipping holes 13-15 in order to play the final 3 holes before sunset. The marshal helped squeeze me between two groups.

One word of caution for anyone that wants to walk - be advised there is alot of elevation changes and probably 2 miles of extra ground to cover between holes. You will get an amazing workout carrying a full bag.

Gut wrenching green complexes in a quiet neighborhood

Normally I roll my eyes at the thought of backyard golf in Summerlin. Siena is now a favorite.

Despite having no EV charging Stations, there is ample parking, even during primetime Saturday on a perfect weather day. The parking lot could benefit from a few more trees for shade.

The bag drop wasn't exactly being attended but I did notice a few guys keeping an eye out for anyone walking or riding up. Staff was friendly and told me where to go and where everything was. My first stop was the practice green. It was large and in great condition. The speed was representative of all 18.

Heading out to the driving range, I found the space a little tight and the lesson area was a bit too close, but the (Wilson -Staff?) range balls were all-you-can-eat and in very good condition.

The entire staff was friendly and the starter was the most friendly of them all (even the cart girl , who was incredibly patient when I asked her to wait while I finished my 4 putt from 20 feet)

The course itself was challenging and multiple holes had lateral hazards that took driver out of my hand.
Most approach shots require negotiating multiple bunkers and putting was a crap shoot unleas you are really good at reading subtle breaks.

My fousome (3 carts) finished in 4.5 hours and we didnt feel any push from groups behind us.

I will be back.
* once thibg that did irk me had nothing to do with the course. I used Google maps to navigate me to the course. It tries to have me use a secure resident's only entrance to the community. I had to drive around a bit before I found the correct entrance to the Golf Course.

Came for the redemption, stayed for the greens

I previously played the course in Nov 2018 and it was brutal due to my slice at the time.

If you can keep the ball fairly straight off the tee then you will be treated to a straight course without much elevation change. However if you tend to bleed left or right you will find yourself in the most demoralizing ravine rough or scarring your wedges with shots off gravel.

The fairways were recently re-seeded so it was fairly muddy today from tee box to green. In another 10 days they will probably be championship worthy. But I cant say enough about how good the grees were. Fabulous color and trim, and fast with breaks you can see. The practice green is very representative of what all 18 are playing like.

Practice area is spacious and driving range is ok. Grass and "turf" are available. But I think the buckets of practice balls is too small. 60 balls (2 baskets) runs $8.

The beverage cart visited 3 times.on the front 9 and once one the back. We tee'd off at 11am so I'm not sure if that was a schedule conflict or if it is a strategy to avoid drunk driving.

I will be back.

No frills

Had I not used a rewards coupon, I would have felt that I paid too much. Parking lot was small and I could see it filling up if they got busy, I liked that it had alot of trees to provide shade. As with most courses, no electric vehicle parking and no one staffing the bag drop. The staff was cordial but terse.

My booking did not include range balls so I wasted $10 on a large bucket only to find it was mats only. Those mats have seen some mileage. The practice green was well maintained and an accurate reflection of all 18 on the course.

After I warmed up I had to track down the starter, to get a cart. The cart had no GPS and the pro shop had no yardage book.. luckily the course was wide and flat. I didnt have any blind approach shots, and the layout is range finder friendly. The cart comes with ice, but there are signs that all food and beverage must be purchased on site.

I'm not a fan of backyard golf (playing through backyards of house-lined fairways) but this course layout was wide and flat and very forgiving if you tend to slice towards houses. Chances are you will find your ball.

The fairways and greens were well maintained, but the fairways of 9 and 18 were littered with range balls, which is infuriating if you play yellow or white balls. It wouldn't take much effort to clean those up twice a day. The bunkers need a couple more rakes.

I played by myself so there were no pace of play issues and I saw the beverage cart twice in 3.5 hours.

Overall I got what I paid for, but nothing more.

Didn't pay much, didnt get much

Bag drop was unattended. No EV charging stations.
Golf shop wasn't getting restocked with range baskets.
Starter was rude (the whole staff was unhelpful and didnt seems to be communicating between themselves).
Driving range was uneven and chewed up with no real targets. Practice green was OK condition and large. I thought it was representative of all 18 greens.
We had to change our carts at the turn because the battery was low.
Fairways were almost burned out. Looks like no one has weeded the property in months - I would expect grounds coming out of a reseed to be in much better condition.
Finished a round on Sunday afternoon in 5 hours, about 45 min longer than it should have taken... didnt see the Marshall once.
Beverage cart made one appearance on the mid way through the front nine, then nothing.
Would not reccomend and will not be returning.

Fast greens in great shape despite getting ready to re-seed.

Greens running at about 12 this morning. The fairways were very burned out as the prep to re-seed and I had a few iron shots run out tens of yards longer than expected. I put a ball in the water with a 4 iron on 18 but still had a great time. Will be back.
