APOPKA GOFL AND TENNIS

I love this course, with its ups and downs, and hidden fairways and greens. That being said, what I don't like is the current condition of the greens. I know the weather has been problematic lately but surely they can do better than what exists there currently. Brown splotches all over the greens and hardly a smooth rolling surface anywhere. Fairways were fine and I'll go back when the greens improve but not even another free lunch and an under $20 rate will pull me back. Oh, the lunch was a hot dog and beverage, which could be a draft beer. Not worth the drive right now.

Thanks so much for leaving us such great feedback! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed the hidden fairways. We are endeavoring to improve our greens and we hope you'll come back in the future to see the improvements.

Despite recent heavy rains, the fairways were fairly dry but we still had to use cart-paths only. That was understandable because you don't want to tear up the fairways before they have had a chance to dry out. Still, cart-paths only wore us out toward the end of our round, mainly because of the humidity and the fact that we kept hitting our drives to the OTHER side of the fairway from the cart paths. We were not happy that the greens had been aerated and sanded recently, making putting an adventure as to direction and speed. The two-put rule was in effect, we just had trouble getting to the greens in regulation. Love the terrain, scenery and wildlife that abound on the course. Sometimes, golf is not just about getting birdies and pars (forget eagles for me) and this course adds to the ambience of good friends and enjoyment of the outdoors and the game. Play on!

If you played this course during the drought, you need to give it another try. The smooth greens roll true, dry spots on the fairways are a thing of the past and I couldn't find anything to complain about for the hot deal price we paid. The bunkers could use more real sand rather than the gravelly stuff they appear to prefer. While there are some interesting and challenging holes, the overall layout is lacking imagination, which keeps this course from achieving greater status as one of one of the area's better tracks. Several holes lack definition, such as 1 and 18, lending an amateurish look to the place. Still, I would come back for a similar hot deal.
