Yawn

- Nice Clubhouse
- Friendly Staff

- New Electric Carts
- Won't Let You Go Off Path and Speed Restrictive
- When You Do, You Drive Extra Slow
- Its Like a Tesla but You Can't Control It

- Tee Boxes are Convex at Every Hole
- Tee Boxes are Chewed Up / Divots / No Seed
- Some Tee Boxes with Extensive Weeds

- Teed Off at 6:30AM
- Pace of Play was 2 Holes Max Behind Pace
- Group of 3 Guys Gambling in Front of Us
- No Ranger other than a Golf Cart iPad
- Played a FIVE HOUR ROUND at one of 1st tee times.

It used to be a solid course. But it's fallen off. $90 a tee time.
Just not worth the drive with these conditions.

Someone Please Buy It

Booked via TeeOff. Took some convincing to get some folks to drive from Northern NJ to East Stroudsburg, PA (1 Hr. 15 Mins), but finally got our foursome.

Entering the neighborhoods around the Course, you won't feel uncomfortable but you'll be a little surprised at the difficult times that have fallen on the homes - that MIGHT be the theme for the Course but stay tuned.

The immediate neighborhood has some large beautiful houses and well maintained - The Estates at Great Bear I think. Not sure of the entirety but we never saw a car in the area - even with the cart paths crossing the roads.

Pull into the parking lot, 8:51AM tee time, pulled in around 8:15AM. Staff only cars on the lot. Geeked to be playing the Great Bear - download the app at the Starter's Recommendation. 3D Flyovers of the Holes. Great if you've never played it.

Into the clubhouse and into the Pro Shop. Grab myself a beautiful GBGC Polo and my buddy got an awesome Golden Bear hat which had proceeds to charity. Jack's Pub is closed, all dark. Locker room seen better days. Some furniture storage, lots of unusable areas (Showers, TV/Couches). Clubhouse is like the land that time forgot. Just not getting the traffic - hard to justify it being any other way.

Get out on the course. Foursome in front of us did NOT hit the pace of play times listed on the cards. Must've been some money tossed around. Ranger and Pro Shop Clerk pushed em along a bit - tried to maintain the pace.

Tee boxes were in good shape. Cart paths need a refresher. Course has a beautiful layout. Challenging holes. Unbelievable landscape. Lots lots of fun. Def need an injection of funds to work on some of the landscaping areas and issues. Cleat cleaners were out. Garbage pails were out. No beer cart girl but it was a bit cold and rained on the back Nine.

Was approximately a 5 Hour Round. We were sandwiched with a few groups. Had one Twosome skip a hole on us and cause a bigger traffic jam. Ended up back behind the starting foursome. Rain didn't help the speed for some reason too.

Finished off a beautiful round with Jack's Pub for a transfusion and a burger with fries/onion rings and some wings. Staff was wonderful. Gotta feel for these folks not seeing the traffic this course deserves.

So yes - Someone Please Buy It. Small investments, lots into marketing. Establish a larger membership. This course should be rolling in the dough vs. some of the trash courses we pay in Northern NJ for snails pace boring golf.

TPC Sold Me

Don't get me wrong on this review. I enjoyed this golf course, the staff was fantastic, and the whole experience was a blast. However, I am a little disappointed that I paid $150 to play.

We were down in New Orleans, LA for a Bachelor Party and we all decided it would be a good time to get out there. Transportation was a little tricky. The course wasn't exactly helpful as they offered almost double and, at points, triple the cost to pick us up from our hotel. We outright rented a car and it was cheaper. Look out for that.

We get there and they take care of our clubs, we hit some range balls, and walked on to the first hole at the exact time we had our tee time. We head out on the course after a schpeal from the starter about pace of play, possible gators in the water hazards, and staying cool (it was 100 degrees).

The course didn't play overly challenging. I didn't by default get beat down on a majority of the holes. It essence, I was disappointed that this wasn't the case. I expected this to be a PGA tour type difficulty course. I'm not exactly the greatest player either. The greens were fast but not beyond using some touch. But out of the 40 something golf balls I brought, I didn't lose more than 2. Haha.

During our round we refreshed with the cart girl who was around often, stops at the club house, water at a bunch of holes, and even an offer of a cold towel mid-round. Drinks were cheap and well-worth it and made the round enjoyable.

At the end of the round, we enjoyed a nice bite at the clubhouse, did some shopping at the club shop, and took off.

The car was $75, split between 4 of us. The round was $150. We spent about $50 each on drinks, another $15 on lunch. I bought myself a TPC Louisiana golf shirt for $30. It was an expensive trip. I understand the expectation of spending money around a round of golf and all that, but I couldn't justify paying another $150 for a round there. TPC Sold Me.

A Challenge; In Patience & In Play

I enjoyed playing at Kissena in general. The staff was great and helpful. We used our golfnow.com reservation and got on the course quickly with our cart.

Quickly after getting out on the course, we were bottlenecked up at a Par 3. The group behind us was rushing a bit and the group in front of us wasn't really rushing. On cue, the Cart Beverage Girl came out and we got some drinks. On this particular day I was really enjoying using my driver the few times we did but most holes were between 100 and 175 yards. Torture.

Grabbed some hot dogs with the works from the snack bar, enjoyed plenty of beers and played some more. The heat was pretty tough at times and the course had the sprinklers on at times which was pleasant but annoyed play.

We got through in 4 hours. I shot 22 over par because of my terrible play on the Par 3s but had at least 5 Pars on the Par 4s as they were short (drive would get me within 50 yards.) I'd recommend it to some friends but I would have liked some more advanced notice on the shortness.
