Worth The Drive

Henry County is a simple, but tricky layout. The course is always in perfect shape. It's a bit of a drive from the city, but you can always play in 3 hours, and the course is much more fun than the highly regarded courses in and around the city.

Immaculate Condition, Municipal Experience

The course is a strange layout (reachable par 5, moderately long par 3 to start--2 par 5's in a row), but is always in perfect condition. There are no bad lies on this course, the greens always run true.

However, the staff makes the playing experience worse than one would expect at the city courses in Louisville (Cherokee, Seneca, ect). The grounds crew does not stop mowing/driving while players are hitting. The marshal stopped and took one of my balls while I was playing (on a par 5 that I went for in 2 and hit multiple shots at the green, one ended up long and near a cart path--I was on the green and hadn't gone to pick it up yet). The shop attendant charged me the regular rate, rather than the rate I had agreed to pay on GolfNow, and told me that I *had to* tee off 45 minutes prior to my tee time. And finally, the 19th hole feels more like a bar than a snack shop after about 3 pm.

I've played this course about a half dozen times, and I've always had a little trouble with the staff (one time they refused me range balls, when GolfNow states they are included with the tee-time; not having carts ready on a slow day), but the mere condition of the course is worth the drive and inconvenience caused by a staff not suited for a municipal course.

I have been playing at Heritage Hill for several years now and I have received nothing but excellence from the staff. From the moment I arrive at the course, I am welcomed at my car with a cart from one of their friendly cart attendants. In my experience, the pro shop staff has always been top notch. They are very accommodating and go out of their way to ensure everyone has a great time. Heritage Hill is still the best public course in the Louisville area and I will continue to play out there as much as I can!
