Love this Arnold Palmer designed track. Due to injury I have not played here in many months. It did not disappoint. Greens are in great shape. Lightening fast as usual. Fairways are well maintained. Rough is U.S. open ready. Very penal. Really difficult to find your ball when in it. Because of all the rain the bunkers need to be redone. Returning from hip replacement the plush cushioned cart seats were a pleasure. Don’t give playing here a second thought. It’s worth it.
Lakemont at Stone Mountain Golf Course

Played Lakemont course front nine and Stonemont back nine with a member. Fairways of both tracks are well maintained. Because most Lakemont greens have been replaced over the last several years they’re very nice. But, they roll inconsistent and number 7 suffers from a drainage problem. The recent rains have damaged all the Stonemont bent grass greens. Stonemont course is not worth the money they charge to play it. Stay away from Stonemont. That is unless you’re just looking to enjoy the day practicing.

Course is in great shape as expected. Grounds crew does a great job maintaining the course. All the tree cutting of the last several years is a big improvement. Although changing all the time. Some staff have been there for years. They're all friendly and well trained.
On the negative side.
- Disappointment is still the greens. Inconsistent speed from green to green and some still need further work or replacement.
-Robert Trent Jones Sr. will be spinning in his grave if what a member told me about the 11th green is true. They plan to move the 11th green to a location before the creek. The new green will be smaller and flat. It looks temporary. The green has been a problem for years but to abandon the original design is disgraceful. If true I will skip the hole in the future.
- Getting into the park to play is still an issue. If you don't have an annual pass ($40) you have to pay ($20) entrance fee for the day. I think the pro shop offers a discount on merchandise to compensate.
Ashton Hills Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2017Poor Course Management Equals Slow Play
I was not informed I would be playing behind a tournament. Myself and the twosome ahead of me could have been sent out as a group or sent out the back nine. No fun watching amateurs plumb bob three footers and spend inordinate amount of time searching for balls in the woods. A 3.5 to 4 hour round turned into five and half hours of exasperation. No wonder people quit the game.
Hickory Knob Golf Course
Played On 03/29/2016Scenic, But A Poor Ride
It rained the night prior so conditions were cart path only. I was alerted by the pro shop that the cart paths were in need of repair because of tree roots. Understatement to say the least! Back injury can result if you're not careful. Old style parkland mountain course with tight fairways and postage stamp size greens. Early spring so fairways had not been mowed. Green surfaces were disappointing. Staff was friendly and informative. I do not recommend this course. South Carolina parks department needs to spend some money and bring this course back from life support.

I've played here several times in the last four months. I still love the track however I'm not thrilled with some recent changes.
• Changed from quiet electric carts to noisy, slow gas carts.
• Now charge $10 per player to hit range balls!
• I was told they will convert greens from Bent to Bermuda grass. Was to be done in June but has been delayed.
I thought we're supposed to grow the game. Slow carts don't speed up play and high range fees don't encourage me to return. Especially after I spend an hour and a half driving to getting to the course.

Beautiful parkland setting and elevation changes make this a fun course to play. The course is moderately challenging. A little local knowledge goes a long way as there are several holes where unseen hazards will affect club selection.
Of Interest: Each fairway entrance and exit is marked by two posts. Fairway center posts are also marked for front, middle or back pin location.
The Oaks Course
Played On 10/09/2012Greens are gauranteed as advertised!
The nicest greens you'll find anywhere. Obvious management takes pride in their condition. No need to tee it forward as this is a shorter length track. Most seniors and and intermediate golfers will reach the green in two when playing from the white tees. Credit Bobby Jones with a nice job on the original design. This track is worth playing any chance you have. Excellent practice facility and instruction.

This course is well maintained. It offers a good challenge with an open layout that allows for good recovery shots. I will play this course again when I have the opportunity.

In the five months I've lived in Georgia this is one of the best courses I've played. If it's the country club atmosphere you enjoy it doesn't get much better than this. The track is in great condition. You'd think the course just opened. Although the course is located in a gated community of homes the flow from hole to hole is well designed. Excellent practice facilities, restaurant and staff.
