Sierra Lakes Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2021Really enjoyed myself!
It has been some 2 years sine last played Sierra course. The course is wells kept, greens were rolling well; and it was easy finding a waywardly hit ball (unlike many other courses). Plan on going back soon!
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course
Played On 02/08/2021Why let the course become scruffy!?
It has been a little while since last played here – Then, the course was in excellent condition; they always kept the course that way. Today, oh boy! What happened!? Please do not let this course fall apart!
Rustic Canyon Golf Course
Played On 11/17/2020Good but very slow!
I really like Rustic Canyon! I hope they hear me say that - However, the pace of play was terrible! 5.5 hrs. Yikes! When you have a group of 4 in carts, behind a group of 4 walking; and, this is spread out throughout the course, the round will be very long.
Hi, thethinman! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Rustic Canyon Golf Course!
Angeles National Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2020Always a good experience @ Angeles National
As usual, Angeles National serves up a wonderful day for playing golf - two friendly other players, nice conversation and competitiveness on the side. Great stuff!
Wow, we are so happy you enjoyed your round, thethinman! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Rustic Canyon Golf Course
Played On 05/18/2020I really enjoy playing this course; BUT…
I start out by saying, I really enjoy playing this course; BUT…
I’m really confused and irritated about electric carts not being allowed; not even for a single rider, like many other courses are doing, effectively and safely. I suffer from a blood clot in my left calve; and, one in my brain. Yes, really, in my brain. Because of this “policy”; or, whatever it is, electric carts are not allowed. I had to stop short and played only 9-holes. You can imagine why. My question is, what possible medical, scientific, COVID-19, believable and, or, reasonable explanation could there by not permitting electric carts? Especially in light of those courses that are allowing there use.
Again, I do enjoy Rustic! I just think this decision is unnecessary and does some harm and strong inconvenience to those who really could use them.
Thank you for listening!
Hello, thethinman. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Thank you for choosing Rustic Canyon Golf Course. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time!
Angeles National Golf Club
Played On 02/18/2019a new “standard of experience
Played the first nine holes in just over 9 hours! WOW! Fairways and bunkers are in horrible condition.
This course touts itself as a “standard of excellence” golf course; (and charges at that prideful rate)…tasteless and shameful! Please clean up your course and do a better job on controlling a pace of play that allows ALL to move forward at a reasonable pace. NOT 3+ HOURS FOR NINE HOLES! And, yes, I’m a little irritated about my recent golf experience today. You’ve set a new “standard of experience” in golf. You’ve lowed the bar!
Hello, we apologize you didn't fully enjoy your round. Our goal at Angeles National Golf Club is for every player to enjoy their experience. Thank you for playing, we hope you give us another chance in the future.
Rustic Canyon Golf Course
Played On 09/22/2018A Pretty Nice Place to Play
I played Rustic a good bit this summer – I always enjoy this course. Forcing me to properly align; which I struggle. The pace of play was pretty good; the fairways, I must say are rather crusty; where your ball lands and ends up sitting in these little craters. Forcing you to hit down more than usual. My criticism is with the condition of the Tee Boxes; pretty shabby, really. Your “Tee Boxes” need some attention Rustic, keep them clean, and somewhat even…not like standing on a large round dome. But still, a pretty nice place to play and get better.
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
Played On 10/14/2017Need to enforce pace of play!
I’ve played here several times…always enjoy playing this course.
However, today was different. The wind blew mightily; and, the pace of play was absolutely horrible! Some folks who cannot hit the ball decently simply should not be playing a course like Morongo. The front-nine was 3.25 hours ending with a 5 hour and 35 min round. Yikes!
The Marshall drove by several times…nothing changed.
Oak Quarry Golf Club
Played On 12/17/2016I enjoy playing at oak Quarry!
But this past Saturday was pure He!!! Played a 3+ hour front-nine! Had to call the Marshall due to the group behind hitting-up on our group multiple times. And, some words of advice to the “I don’t play golf often and wanted to play today” – PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM A FULL LENGTH COURSE like oak Quarry.
Aside from the above, I enjoy playing Oak Quarry; but I think I’ll not come on any weekend but stick to a weekday, instead. Playing the weekend is far too long!
Tierra Rejada Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2016Keep your reputation intact!
Yesterday was my 2nd time playing (TR). This is a very nice course that demands shot-making and course management. A most almost perfect blend of golf for the avid golfer.
However, my experience yesterday was marred by two things: The front desk person’s overall poor bedside manner and general discourtesy; and, the most painful slow play and, at times, hazard play by some of the players behind us. Constant hitting balls close upon the group in front, is always dangerous.
The course Management would be wise to keep better “eyes” on the course happenings and do a better job managing pace-of-play. Many players from what I experienced yesterday should not be on any full-length golf course. These two experiences greatly blemish the current positive reputation of this course; which should be guarded and fostered to remain so.
From one coming from the LA area, yesterday’s experience gently reminds me that there are alternatives; on equally more than adequate venues; where management does not allow the above to take place.
But, again, overall this is at the moment a nice place to play.

Sierra Lakes Golf Club
Played On 01/18/2016Yeah…the greens are its defense.
Had a blast of a time and played with two very nice and good players. Thanks guys!
Reading over some of these past reviews, I really wanted to ‘Go Play’ this course. I’m glad I did. The course is pretty forgiving; open fairways, some bunkers and trees providing little protection, but, it’s those darn Greens. Once you get on the green, spend a little more time reading your putt…you’ll need to.
True to form and like many others have already said, the greens are FAST and roll true!
If you can stay below the hole, you’ll have a much better chance of two-putting vs. three-putting.
I shot a pretty good (38) on the front-9. We won’t talk about my back-9, ok. LOL!
Can’t wait to go back again!
Olivas Links Golf Course
Played On 10/29/2015Challenging and Fun
Well, played here for the first time and I must say, the previous reviews are correct…keep it between the hash marks (fairway) or pay a penalty. My T-time was 724am and the wind was blowing pretty good; had to club-up 1or2 clubs for knock-down shots that worked well. For the most part everything is pretty much in front of you; but again, you better hit your shots on-line and keep it in front of you to have good approach shots into the greens.
Pace of play was good but, felt a little rushed which made the “feel part of the game” a little hectic. A mental and emotional part of the game to overcome.
Overall played pretty solid with a score of 77. Not bad for a 12 handicap…my best score ever!
You’ll enjoy playing here – Tee shots are premium for potential scoring opportunities.
Hansen Dam Golf Course
Played On 04/04/2015Becoming slow as Griffith Park
Well, simply a 3+ hour front-9…it’s becoming very difficult to play an avg LA public course today within 4 hours or so. The game of golf was simply not meant to be played like this. But, considering the financial plight of the City, enforcing even reasonable time constraints is obviously too challenging.
For the golfer averaging 0-12 or so, and if pace of play is important to you, take my advice and look elsewhere.
Harding at Griffith Park Golf Courses
Played On 03/28/2015Thought I’d try again…MISTAKE!
Well, it’s been several months or so since my last visit to Griffith Park courses.
I should have listened to that little voice in my head saying…No, stay away! You’ll regret it! Don’t do it!
That ever happen to you; did you ever listen to your inner voice and was glad you did? Well, I did not listen. The result was a 3+ hour front-nine, yikes! Nough said!
If you are a 12 or so better handicap and you enjoy playing at a fair to good pace of play, STAY AWAY FROM GRIFFITH PARK GOLF COURSES!
It’s as simple as that.
P.S. start listening to your inner voice more; you’ll be glad you did.

Similar to the Wilson course, Harding could be a "gem" if simply maintained and groomed. Consequently, due to a lack of a little TLC the course is and becoming more ragged. The T Boxes are ok, fairways are very patchy, bumpy and un-kept.
Overall, the layout is right in front of you. No real trouble to speak of...no water except one hole, no fairway bunkers nor hazards or OB to worry you. The course's main defense is heavy tree lines along the fairways. So, hit it in the fairway and your 2nd shots into the greens are key to descent scoring. Oh the greens are very bumpy, deceased and are like putty on an upside-down salad bowl. The greens have no real flat areas. Good luck!
Oh, pace of play can be brutally maddening along with lack of etiquette (folks jump holes a lot right in your face) a sign of poor upbringing.
If you can find a GNow deal for under $30 bucks go for it - not worth their usual asking price.
Wilson at Griffith Park Golf Courses
Played On 10/03/2014Overall a OK place to play...
If the City would spend a little money in semi-regular maintenance, Wilson could be one of the best public courses in California. But, because they don't, the course gets an "ok" grade. Overall the course is poorly maintained. The pace of play is slow and general social personalities are rude, prejudicial and impatient.
The greens are descent but it's like putting on an upside-down salad bowl; options are uphill or downhill with a speed of slow and bumpy.
Wilson is just ok.
Sand Canyon Country Club
Played On 9/8/2013Hit’em straight…
Robinson Ranch is by far one of the best values for your hard-earned golf money in all of SoCal.
Well kept, true rolling greens, very nice rolling fairways and oh, least I forget, you better hit’em straight. This is not a place for the squeamish nor faint of heart. There are basically no tree-lined fairways here, so if you’re not in the fairway you’re more than likely taking a drop and a lost shot. I almost forgot to mention that the staff is very friendly and helpful? For the money I can’t think of a better place to play!
Skylinks Golf Course
Played On 5/21/2013You'll enjoy playing Skylinks!
It’s been almost a year sine playing this course. Skylinks is fairly challenging with nice greens that actually roll and noy bump too much. Watch out for those bunkers, if you get in one you better bring you’re a-bunker game. The course is long enough with doglegs and plenty of opportunities to score and not to score. Hehe!
You do get the occasional group that may hit up on you – just manage them accordingly and you’ll enjoy the round.
DeBell Golf Club
Played On 12/12/2012Both good and bad
I’ve heard both negative and positive about this course. Played for first time and I must say, I enjoyed playing. You better bring solid iron play when you go or else you’re in trouble. Only negative was slow play due to some real dopes in front. In life as well, this is pretty much always the case.
Greens rolled pretty good and true. Great place to simply work on your game.
Executive at Vista Valencia Golf Course
Played On 9/22/2012Not a bad place to play.
Vista Valencia is a decent course. But like many others, there are some areas of improvement that would make it good. First, continued maintenance of the greens and surrounding rough areas. If the greens were better kept, this course would move from a 6 on the scale to an easy 8 out of 10. Play can be to slow at times, but if you catch a good tee time, your average round should take no longer than 2 or 2.5 hours. Nice par 3’s that force you to be fairly accurate. Overall this a solid place to work on your game.
